Degree Structure

• Three years study plus a year in placement taken at the end of year 2

• Modules include:

o Mentored research training

o Understanding health systems. Health policy - Why do health systems look like they do?

o Social science of health systems: psychology, sociology, economics, law, anthropology, demography.

o Managing health systems: organisational behaviour, organisational change, creativity, innovation, safety, leadership and decision making.

o Ethics and legal frameworks of health systems

organisation and delivery of healthcare to develop student skills in understanding and carrying out research

Academic Tutor: Experienced member of staff to guide in relation to academic

and pastoral issues

Admissions Criteria

• A Levels: AABThe following subjects would facilitate a successful application: Mathematics, English Literature, English Language, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, History, Geography, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Languages, Statistics, Further Mathematics or Politics. Other subjects are also considered

• GCSEs: A minimum of 7 GCSE including English at a minimum of grade B. Mathematics should be passed at a minimum of grade A.

• Access: Science or social science based access course (40 distinctions at level 3). Different GCSE requirements for students over 21.

• Selection process: UCAS application and interview; CRB self-disclosure. 16
