Model 4528EZ Detector and Model CX-645Probe

The Model 4528EZ Detector and Model CX-645 Probeprovide a direct analog (0-5 Vdc and 4-20 mA) output ofpercent emulsified water (as S&W) in the process stream. This signal is designed to be used externally by the Model4728 monitor or other control devices such as PLCs orRemote Terminal Systems. The probe is constructed of two concentric tubes. Wettedsurfaces are coated with a baked-on phenolic two-partepoxy. The inner tube is insulated from the outer tube byTeflon spacers and is electrically connected to a terminal

within the sensor housing. The internal element spacerscan be fitted with trimmer rods should it be necessary toadjust the base capacitance. The detector operates from a 8-28 Vdc regulated powersupply from within the associated monitor or customer-supplied source. All calibration and adjustments can beaccessed through the front panel for ease of use. TheModel 4528EZ detector offers the flexibility of a high orlow fail-safe. This fail-safe feature guarantees the qualityof the output signal from the detector chassis and willsense over- and under-range conditions as well as anopen or shorted probe.

  • The Model WCM 7300 is designed to provide the highestpossible sensitivity, resolution, and accuracy for water con-tent determination in crude oil, other hydrocarbons, or otherlow dielectric liquids from a max of 25% to levels below 1000parts per million (ppm). In oil and natural gas (condensate)production, water cut and S&W measurements are signifi-cantly improved with the WCM 7300 technology. Enhanceddigital signal processing and full product temperature com-pensation are two of the technological advancements utilizedby this device. Probe sizes from 2 through 12 are available.4-20 mA and 0-5 volt outputs are available for remote read-out. Water cut, process temperature or probe electrical valuecan be selected for viewing without removing conduletcover by use of a supplied magnet to operate an internalreed switch.

    Product Temperature Compensation

The base dielectric constant (Dk) of oils can change withchanges in temperature. This can cause traditional moni-tors to change without a variance in water content. Forexample; for a 10F change, a typical curde oil may showa reading shift of as much as 0.1%, which normally wouldbe considered as water. The WCM 7300 measures prod-uct temperature and calculates a corrected cut reading, providing a true water or S&W cut at any temperature upto 160F.

TheWCM sees these changes and so indicates them. In thelaboratory the WCM easily detects and indicates changes of100 ppm, or less. This accuracy is seldom observed in thefield because of the reasons stated above.
