In 43 countries all over the world more than 200,000 of our bogies are doing their operational duty safely and reliably. Each day all of these bogies around the globe run a distance equivalent to 260 times the span between the earth and the moon.
Our PortfolioFLEXX is the name of the most comprehensive bogie portfolio in the world. It covers the entire range of railway vehicles from metros to high speed trains, from trams to heavy haul locomotives. The FLEXX bogie portfolio focusses on bogie designs with valuable benefits for the operator: safety, reliability & robustness. FLEXX bogies are service proven under a variety of challenging operational conditions: Scandinavian winters North of the Arctic Circle, desert sand storms in Saudi Arabia or altitudes higher than 5,000 m in China.
The extensive experience gained in developing and producing rail vehicles for more than 160 years has made us internationally renowned for the quality, innovation and performance of our bogies. Over the past two decades 21 companies experienced in bogie design and manufacture merged into today’s Bombardier Bogie organisation. During the last years the product range was continuously consolidated which culminated in the creation of the FLEXX bogie portfolio.
This outstanding portfolio will be strengthened further by the ongoing innovative developments of Bombardier’s 200 specialist bogie development and design engineers. A dedicated bogie service network supports the operation of the FLEXX fleet throughout its lifetime by testing, overhaul, repair and refurbishment.
FLEXX Bogies
S – FLEXX Urban for Trams and Light Rail VehiclesInnovative tram bogies enable low floor vehicle solutions to be configured providing convenience for the urban traveller by easy boarding. Particular focus is given to maintenance aspects such as wheel life maximisation and minimizing the environmental impact with low levels of noise emission and vibration.
M – FLEXX Metro for Metro and Mass Transit Applications More than 20,000 FLEXX Metro Bogies are currently in service worldwide, for which reliability and robustness are key features of their designs. Reliability is ensured by simplicity of the design and use of proven technology. For challenging networks special bogie frame technologies incorporating articulating frames create a high level of operational safety.

Segment and Features
M – FLEXX Bogies for Regional, Long Distance and High Speed Trains These applications span a wide variety of requirements.• FLEXX Compact: optimum comfort and easy boarding through low floor applications are a priority for regional applications• FLEXX Eco: lowest unsprung mass for minimum track and wheel damage• FLEXX Fit, FLEXX Load: bogies for various speed and axle loads specifically designed for trailer coaches• FLEXX Link: superior ride quality and running stability for long distance trains• FLEXX Speed: comfort and safety at very high speeds.
L – FLEXX Power for LocomotivesThese are the power packs of the trains. The bogies have to be as robust and reliable as the locomotive that they support. Special attention is given to the structural integrity of the bogie frames and the most effective transmission of the locomotive’s tractive forces to the rails. A range of appropriate drive systems are configurable for various service speeds. In particular for high speed locomotives the innovative integration of the drive units within the bogie is a prerequisite for successful operation.
