COUNSELLING PROCEDURE

A) Come prepared for counselling

Candidates should ensure that they fulfill the eligibility requirements given in Manipal University

Prospectus 2012.

Documents Check Lists

10th standard marks card for proof of date of birth

Marks card of 10+2

Conduct and Character certificate obtained on the School/College letter head/pad. No

other certificate in lieu of this will be accepted

Transfer certificate or School/College Leaving Certificate issued by the School/College.

No other certificate in lieu of this will be accepted

Four recent and identical passport size photographs and one stamp size photograph

Two set of photocopies of all the above documents

IMPORTANT NOTE: All the candidates are required to produce the above mentioned original

documents for verification. In the event of admission, University will collect one set of photocopies of

these documents. The original documents should be submitted on the day of commencement of

classes and University will retain these documents till the completion of the courses.

B) On the day of counselling

The physical presence of the candidate at the counselling is mandatory. If a candidate is

prevented by unavoidable circumstances from being physically present for the counselling,

he/she may authorize another individual to represent him/her at the counselling. This

representative must carry the authorization. CLICK HERE for the authorization letter format.

Only the candidate/representative will be allowed into the counselling hall.

Candidate should fill the registration form available at the registration counter.

Candidates will be called as per their MU-OET 2012 rank for biometrics and document

verification. The original documents will be returned back to the candidate after verification.

However, the original documents should be submitted on the day of commencement of classes.

Successful candidates will be allotted seats according to their rank and number of seats available

in the respective campus. Such candidates should pay the first year fees at the counselling.

Request for extension of dates for payment of fees or submission of original documents for

verification will not be entertained under any circumstances.

Absence of the candidate or his/her representative at the indicated reporting time and date will

result in the instantaneous forfeiture of any claim for a seat.

The choice of course made by the candidate/representative is final and binding and cannot be

altered later under any circumstances.

C) After Admission

Allotment order and receipt/s for the payment made will be given to the candidate on

completion of the admission process.

Candidates who require hostel facility should contact the Chief Warden of the allotted

institution for hostel enrollment.

Candidates should report to the allotted college on or before the reporting date mentioned in

the allotment order.

Classes will commence from July 16, 2012

FEES

Candidates irrespective of their choice of institution should bring a demand draft for Rs. 2,12,500

(Course fee – Rs. 1,95,000 + Registration fee – Rs. 10,000 + Caution Deposit – Rs. 7,500) by a single

demand draft drawn in favour of ‘Manipal University’ payable at Manipal or Udupi.

Excess amount, if any will be refunded after commencement of classes.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Part payments or payment in installments is not permitted. Nonpayment of the

first year fees on the day of counselling will result in instantaneous forfeiture of seat.

WAITLIST

When all the seats in the given branch are filled, candidates may choose to be waitlisted.

Candidates may opt for one branch and simultaneously get waitlisted for other

branch.

Waitlist form will be made available in the WAITLIST COUNTER. Only candidates

interested in wait listing should fill up the form giving the order of branch

preference as per their priority and submit in the waitlist counter.

Please do not fill up the waitlist form if you are not interested in changing the

branch for which you are selected. In event of vacancy in the branch of preference

given in the waitlist form, admission will be automatically allotted as per the

priority number and it cannot be reversed under any circumstances.

Candidates who opt only to be waitlisted, need not pay any fee until they receive

the selection intimation from the respective institution that they have been

selected for admission from the waiting list as a consequence of withdrawal or

cancellation of admission of any originally admitted candidate.

WARNING

Applicants are warned against possible cheating by unscrupulous agencies that may put out misleading

advertisements in newspapers or approach by other means, promising and assuring seats for various

courses for monetary considerations or by extracting large sum of money from candidates / parents.

Manipal University wishes to authoritatively refute all such misleading false claims and advertisements.

Admissions can be secured only by merit in the all India Manipal University Online Entrance Test 2012.

We have no agents or middlemen for admissions. There is no management quota, reserved seats or

payment seats of any kind.

The number of candidates included in the merit list and also those called for the counselling will be

more than the total number of seats available in the constituent colleges. This is to take care of any

dropouts at the counselling stage. Mere inclusion in the merit list and call for counselling does not

guarantee admission to a course. This will exclusively depend on the candidates all India rank, the

number of candidates attending the counselling, their choice of course/institution and the number of

seats available.

All admissions are subject to fulfillment of all the eligibility conditions by the candidate. If it is found at a

later stage, during active verification, that the candidate has given false information/certificate or is

found to have concealed some information his/her admission will be cancelled without any notice. It is

the responsibility of the candidates to ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility requirements for the

course/s applied.

MANIPAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, MANIPAL – SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED

MERIT-CUM-MEANS SCHOLARSHIP

Candidates admitted to BTech courses within the first 1000 ranks are eligible for merit-cum-means

scholarship. Scholarship amount shall be determined based on the parents’ annual income (from all

sources). Such scholarships are subject to 5% of the general category intake. Please refer page 147 of

the Prospectus 2012 for details.

Eligible candidates should submit the attested photocopy of Income Tax return form for the assessment

year 2012-13 along with the other original documents at the verification counter. Non working parents

should send the notarized affidavit indicating that they are not employed.

Candidates should pay the full fees at the time of counselling and the scholarship amount will be

refunded after scrutinizing the IT returns form.

AICTE SCHOLARSHIP FOR ECONOMICALLY BACKWARD STUDENTS

AICTE has introduced the scheme on tuition fee (course fees includes tuition and other fees)

waiver for economically backward students enrolled to BTech courses. The proposed scheme

will be applicable only to the students with parents’ annual income (from all sources) less than

Rs. 4.5 lakhs. AICTE scholarships are subject to availability and will not exceed 5% of the total

intake.

As the number of scholarship has been considered based on the intake of the particular BTech

branch, if any student changes the branch in the second year then he/she is not eligible for the

scholarship.

Eligible candidates should send the attested scanned copy of Income Tax return form for the

assessment year 2012-13 by June 5, 2012 to office.admissions@manipal.edu. Non working

parents should send the notarized affidavit indicating that they are not employed.

Separate merit list based on MU-OET 2012 rank of the eligible candidates under this scheme will

be announced in website.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR ACADEMY OF GENERAL EDUCATION STUDENTS (SAGES):

This scholarship is applicable to students who have studied their two years of PUC in any of the

following AGE colleges:

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College, Udupi

Sri Bhuvanendra College, Karkala

Bhandarkar’s Arts and Science College, Kundapura

Vijaya College, Mulky

Sri Mahaveera College, Moodabidri

Sri J C B M College, Sringeri

The award of scholarship amount will be based on the percentage of marks secured in 10+2 and parent’s

annual income. Eligible candidates should send the attested scanned copy of Income Tax return form

for the assessment year 2012-13 by June 5, 2012 to dradm@manipal.edu. Non working parents should

send the notarized affidavit indicating that they are not employed. Separate merit list based on MU-OET

2012 rank of the eligible candidates under this scheme will be announced in website.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR KONKANI SPEAKING STUDENTS:

10% tuition fee waiver for admissions to BTech courses of Manipal University for Konkani Speaking

students only. They have to pay other fee as well as remaining tuition fee. Eligible students need to

apply separately after the admission. However, these candidates should pay the full fee at the time of

admission and the fee waiver will be given separately after scrutinizing their eligibility.
