9 point buck taken on December 30, 2008.

He’s my first muzzleloader deer.

I got him at approximately 10 am.

I was hunting on David Deacon’s Land.

This is the second nice buck I’ve taken on his property in the past three seasons.

He was traveling through some greenbriars along the edge between a large set of pines and a large section of white oaks.

There were three other bucks with him.

One was an eleven pointer that was almost as big as him. Maybe I'll run into him again next year.

Now, How am I gonna get this brute out of here? It’s nearly a mile back to my vehicle.

Here come the reinforcements. Toby and his boys came expecting to help drag him out.

Trace, Tyler, and Lane. Thanks for helping!! They walked close to a mile and much of it uphill.

My climber … I was about 15 feet up when I shot him.

Thank God for good friends and cell phones! My buddy, Pete Lambert, brought his four wheeler up.

It would have been a long drag back to my vehicle.

The Exodus begins.

David has beautiful property…close to 200 acres and about half of it is pines.

Lane’s on there somewhere.

We’re taking a 4 wheeler trail through the pines to get him out.

It was a long walk but I had plenty of friends to share the experience with.
