In 1961 the military began secret tests on a new concept
in self protection. Code named Smirkers, these non-lethal
pistols sprayed psychotropic gases, producing hours of
smiling bliss. Although several were developed, testing
ended in 1963 after countless self shootings.

I cast these in Hydrostone™, a very hard plaster, then
hand paint them which can be a tad tricky. For success,
you have to get the surface juuust wet enough.

What we have here are the actual proofs of proposed
stamps by private companies. For reasons that still remain
a mystery, the Postal Service has always rejected the idea.
When mounted like this they are legal to own.

Here’s something you didn’t know: the matte finish and
worn edges on these hearts come from hours of tumbling
in a rock polisher. In the process, many hearts are broken.

About ten years ago I had the following frames made.
I didn’t need them, but I felt that in a few years I would.
They now hold these mounted Giclee prints in an overall
size of 12 inches by 20 inches. Did you know that the
word Giclee was illegal in France until 1993?
