Welcome to the 7th Cilcain Scarecrow Competition.We'd like to involve as many households as possible, so get thewhole family thinking of their original ideas now! Please displayyour scarecrow on your property where it can be seen from theroad during the week before the show, but bring it to the churchyard 10-10:30am on show day for judging. (Scarecrows left at
owners risk).The competition is open to everyone.

Your scarecrow should be given a title and will be judged on it’s Variety and Suitability ofMaterials and Originality and Personality. Minimum size 24” (60cm). Although Cilcain Show has graduallychanged and grown down the years,the spirit of the old society remains.Traditional competitions bring to-gether the community in joint en-deavour for enjoyment and interest,while new ideas for entertainmentare regularly introduced to keep theshow fresh.
Each year a committee of village folksupported by local residents workhard to make the show a successand always welcome additional vol-unteers with new ideas.
The show attracts about 4,000 visi-tors and raises funds for the churchand local community.

Special Notes for all exhibitors (except for the dog show)
1) Each exhibitor must have a separate number.2) An exhibitor may enter one exhibit only in each class.3) Each entry is judged individually.4) All exhibits must be grown,or made by the exhibitor. In the Flower Arrange-
ments, bought flowers may be used.5) Registration of exhibits for competition judging starts at 8.30am. Art and
Design should be brought to the village hall between 11-12am on Sunday25th August. Photography competition exhibits must be staged by 9.30am. All other exhibits must be staged by 10.00 am on show day.
6) Competitions are open to amateurs only.7) All exhibits may be entered free of charge. Items NOT donated to the auction
must be collected between 3.40 and 3.55 p.m.8) The committee reserves the right to refuse an exhibit and accept no responsibil-

Instructions:Grease and line a 2lb loaf tin.Put the water, sultanas, butter and Medium Cut Orange Marmalade in a pan.Bring to the boil for a few minutes then leave to go cold.Add the sugar and beaten eggs and stir until well combined.Mix in the flour and salt.Pour the cake mixture into the lined tin and ensure the mixture is level.Cook for approximately 45 minutes to one hour or until a skewer placed in thecentre comes out clean.

There are four classes plus the Village Hall Trophy in which to enter photographs:
Class 1: White Horse Cup - “Portraits”Competitors can enter one photograph of themselves, their family or someone they know.
Class 2: The Kemp Trophy - “All creature great and small”Competitors should enter any image that includes an animal.
Class 3: The Kinsey-Miles Cup - “Inspirations”Competitors may enter a single photograph of things that inspire( views, people, places).
Class 4: Pringle Cup - Young Persons Class for under 16 year olds - “Pets and their people”
Two overall trophies will also be awarded as follows:The Lloyds Bank Trophy for the most outstanding photograph.
The Village Hall Trophy for the most outstanding photograph of Cilcain and the surroundingarea. The best image will be displayed in the village hall.
Submission requirements:Prints are to be prints not greater than A4 in size, and labelled on the back with the entrant’s name,contact phone number and Class. They should preferably be mounted on card, but not framed.
Files for the Pringle cup must be submitted by email and sent to the steward’s email address([email protected]) no later than the Friday before the show. The email must include your name,address and contact phone number. Please put your name and the picture’s title in to the file name ofthe image.
Previous award winning photographs are excluded. All prints must be handed to the steward between8.30 & 9.30am on Show day.
Photographs are to be collected on Show day after 4.00pm.

Please complete an entry form and hand to stewards before judging commences. Entries willbe taken up until the judging of that class commences. However once judging for the first classcommences, judging for subsequent classes will continue without interruption.
We are grateful to the Community Council for allowing the Dog Show to be held on the Waen.Please help us to keep this Dog Show as an annual event by not allowing your dog to foulthe field and surrounding areas. We realise that "accidents" happen, but would request thatyou clean up any mess your dog makes. Let us show everybody what responsible dogownership means! An exercise area will be roped off. A supply of plastic bags and tissues willbe available from the Stewards. Please bring water for your dog.

MOEL FAMAU MOUNTAIN RACE – 1.00 p.m.
First run in 1960 and held annually since 1973, the 7.5km race, climbs 400m to thesummit of Moel Famau which sits above the village of Cilcain. Entrance fee £5.00
