Catalan Museum of Science and Technology (mNACTEC) from Terrassa (Barcelona- Spain). Terrassa is a modern industrial city. Alongside the historic buildings from the Visigoth, Romanesque, gothic and Modernist periods we find the Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover, a former woollen mill built between 1907 and 1909. In the Modernist stile, it’s considered one of the most beautiful industrial buildings in Europe. It’s now the headquarters of the Catalan Museum of Science and Technology.

The Science and Technique Museum of Catalonia (mNACTEC) has created the "Gas and petroleum: fossils energies” exhibition, which explains the origins, research, marketing and use of energy from fossil fuels. In this report we explain the multimedia resources used to explain the engines and society relations to improve the visitor’s knowledge.

Gas and oil: fossils energy covers an area of 600 m² and uses museological resources focused on the practical and everyday applications of the different energy sources, above all with regard to the relationship between the use of a specific energy resource and its environmental and social impact. Real, interactive models, information boards and working mechanisms the public can operate are used to achieve this aim and to help understanding of the entire exhibition’s concept.

The exhibition shows the real engine and its operation is explained through interactive infographics. A large screen so that the groups can see the computer graphics and a touch screen smaller so that teachers can manipulate the contents. The exhibition features eight engines running on gas, petrol and diesel.
