BLUSH
SECOND CHIC
How would you describe your personal style? Have you ever seen a six-year-old play dress up? Well, that’s me. My style is playful yet refined.
Where are your favorite places to shop? Second Chic for duds, Spiral Scratch for tunes and, of course, Campus Wheelworks for spokes.
What do you love most about Buffalo? The creative community. Mostly everyone I know is up to their elbows in paint, production and preservation.
What’s Buffalo’s best-kept fashion secret? The Military Surplus store at 290 Larkin. Best vintage and
new military clothing that’s timeless for any wardrobe.
You’re a pro thrifter. Any vintage shopping secrets you would like to share? If you can, get to know the story of the piece. Every vintage
find I own has a little history and sometimes it’s those stories that make wearing the garment that much better.
Favorite places to drink? Vera Pizzeria.
Do you have any particular shopping strategies? How does it fit? Don’t buy into labels or sizes. Love yourself and your style.

MODERN NOSTALGIA
BLUE COLLARMEN’S SHOP
How would you describe both of your styles? KARINA: I hate to use the phrase eclectic, but it truly is. My style varies from girly-girl one day, to jeans and a tee the other. One thing I love to do is mix high with low. I’ll wear my Balenciaga bag with my Target flats any day! CURT: I feel that my style is very versatile. I try to keep it comfortable and being able to transition it from the work place to a night out. Sneakers are for the gym, keep your feet looking sharp!
Where are your favorite places to shop? KARINA: Modern Nostalgia, of course. I also love to stop into room Buffalo to shop for my perfect, future home. You can’t beat the restaurants either! CURT: Blue Collar and O’Connell’s are the men’s stores in Buffalo which I absolutely love. Locally owned, they’re both hidden gems that carry top designers for a great price.
What do you love most about Hertel? It’s the quintessential place to go and spend the day. Shopping local, visiting unique shops, grabbing dinner from one of the many amazing restaurants and ending with a delicious cocktail!
What’s Buffalo’s best-kept fashion secret? Hertel is filled with amazing interior design shops. Moda Vintage
happens to be one of our favorites. Where else can you find vintage Chanel boots alongside perfect vintage
bar cart essentials?
What’s your most-prized possession in your closet? KARINA: I recently purchased this adorable elephant necklace from Modern Nostalgia that
I’m not quite sure how to take off! CURT: Will Leather Goods Wallet and Stubbs and
Wootton smoking slippers, they’re always a hit when I wear them out.
What’s your best cheap score of late? We were on the hunt for that perfect vintage bar cart. These days
bar carts can range from $800 to well over $1,000. We hit the jackpot with our newest bar cart from Moda Vintage for a whopping $200!

EAST AURORA Not only can East Aurora stake a claim as the birthplace of the American Arts & Crafts Movement, thanks to the Roycroft Campus, but EA also houses the headquarters of Fisher-Price Toys. Now that packs a punch! Over the past few years, East Aurora’s shopping district has quietly expanded, with boutiques, restaurants, cupcake cafés and much more to satisfy everyone’s palette. » visitbuffaloniagara.com/east-aurora
OOO LA LA BOUTIQUE
THE DRESS SHOP
How would you describe your personal style? I’ve spent a lot of time in NYC and California, so I definitely have an urban edge mixed with a California beachy feel. I’m obsessed with vintage Coach bags, but still love my rainbows and Patagonia!
Where are your favorite place sto shop? West End Gallery has beautiful local artisan jewelry and The Dress Shop has amazing vintage/boho pieces.
A perfect day in East Aurora includes: Elm Street Bakery coffee, cocktails at Bar Bill with friends, and a trip to the Knox Farm!
Best places to grab a bite to eat? Bar Bill, Rick’s and Elm Street Bakery.
Cool galleries to check out: East Aurora has a very deeply rooted artistic community, with loads of history. The best places to check out would be the Roycroft Campus, West End Gallery and red FISH Art Gallery!

14TEN THOUSAND VILLAGES
WILLIAMSVILLE First settled nearly 200 years ago, this village is a destination for those who want to skip the malls and prefer the allure of an old-fashioned Main Street shopping experience. Williamsville has come a long way from its historic roots, hosting a bevy of boutiques, cafes, gift shops and restaurants. From indulging in ya few cocktails to shopping for your favorite brand, it’s all just steps away from the beautiful Glen Falls. visitbuffaloniagara.com/williamsville
How would you describe your personal style? My style is a mashup of classic chic meets boho whimsy. I’m also obsessed with accessories. Big bold silver pieces, a statement handbag and a great pair of Frye boots equals perfection in my book!
Where are your favorite places to shop? LeeLee has an amazing selection of designer brands, and I always love to support local artists and designers . . . Village Artisans is adorable. Especially for some Buffalove purchases!
A perfect day in Williamsville includes: Enjoying a mouth watering sandwich at Nickel City Cheese (the prosciutto is to die for), shopping at Ten Thousand Villages for some fair trade finds and a beautiful walk through Glen Falls.
Who serves the best Village grub? Breakfast at The Original Pancake House, ice cream at Sweet Jenny’s, and dinner at Creekview, Glen Park Tavern, Prosit! or The Irishman Pub and Eatery. Sense a theme? They all have good beer!
What do you love most about Williamsville? The Village’s history, including its role in the Underground Railroad, is so fascinating and it has become a vibrant shopping district. You can’t go wrong in the Will Ville!

ALLENTOWN With cool vibes dating back to the 60s, this quaint historic neighborhood is a perfectly quirky spot with a local vibe. Filled with bars featuring live music, trendy restaurants, local art galleries, antique shops, bookstores and boutiques, Allentown offers an off-the-beaten path look at Buffalo’s indie culture. visitbuffaloniagara.com/allentown-shops SHOP 43
How would you describe your personal style? My style is art inspired. I love to mix the pieces. My typical outfit is a collage of patterns, unique color combinations, handmade and vintage.
Where are your favorite places to shop? I love all the great vintage shops on Allen. Shop 43 is a well curated mix of home products and apparel.
A perfect day in Buffalo includes: An evening walk to enjoy the historic architecture, a First Friday gallery crawl in Allentown, including checking out the new street
art murals. Stumbling on one of the many music and literary events going on any night of the week.
Best places to grab a bite to eat? Cafe 59 is a good lunch spot for coffee and a sandwich. The patio at Cantina Loco for a Spicy Margarita and dinner with friends.
What is Buffalo’s best kept fashion secret? Studio Hart Gallery on Allen has a great selection of local artist- made jewelry.
What does your current fashion wish list consist of? I am looking for vintage dresses from Latin and South America, wool plaid, items with wood details, and ALWAYS vintage modernist fabric and accessories.
Where do you love to shop in Buffalo? Elmwood Village Fabrics and Hyatt’s for DIY supplies and, of course, all the vintage shops.
Best cheap score of late? A great pair of hammered metal earrings from an artist trunk show at The Dress Shop for $25.
Do you have any particular shopping strategies? Try looking in shops you might not normally shop in. A mix of high and low end pieces allows for the occasional splurge. Don’t pass up one of kind pieces that you love. Tell shop owners what you are interested in. Many times they have more selection than what is out, or they know where to find it.

ANTIQUE WORLD
CLARENCE Founded in 1808, Clarence is the quintessential historic colonial town. A visit along its Main Street is like walking back in time with a selection of cute shops and cafes housed in beautiful 19th century buildings visitbuffaloniagara.com/clarence
How would you describe your personal style? I do think Buffalo Dandy is the perfect description. I’m someone who appreciates a good bow tie, but prefers to wear it with jeans rather than a three-piece suit.
A perfect day in Buffalo includes these three things: This is going to sound sappy, but still one of my favorite days was my first date with my now wife. We started the day with brunch at Betty’s restaurant followed by an afternoon exploring Forest Lawn then doing some shopping/antiquing. That evening we headed downtown for drinks and romantic candlelight dinner. That was the day I fell in love with her and the city played such a big part of it… For that reason, all of those things remain my favorite things to do in Buffalo.
What’s your best vintage score? Hands down my favorite vintage find was when I happened into a local thrift shop and found three Harris Tweed blazers for a combined price of $16. The jackets fit incredibly, only needing a few slight alterations. I had been searching for a Harris Tweed blazer for a few years now and to find not one, not two, but three was just incredible.
What’s your favorite restaurant? If you’re doing some antiquing, the Hollow Bistro & Brew or Asa Ransom House in Clarence are amazing. If you’re headed downtown, I would have to say a tie between Mike A’s in the Lafayette Hotel or Bacchus.

ANGEL TO APPLE
LEWISTON Hop on the I-190 N in downtown Buffalo and head to the elegant Village of Lewiston, located on the lower Niagara River, just minutes from the Falls. Lewiston is dotted with an amazing array of eateries, and inviting shops. Shop, stroll and enjoy the atmosphere that fills this quaint little village, and do it with a delicious custard in hand from Hibbard’s – believe us, it’s worth the drive. » visitbuffaloniagara.com/lewiston
How would you describe your personal style? I would describe my style as classic with a dramatic twist. I LOVE color and am not afraid of wearing something a little bit over the top.
Where are your favorite places to shop in Lewiston? My favorite places to shop are the antique stores in Lewiston, because you can always find something unique and special.
A perfect day in Lewiston includes these three things: A sail on the gorgeous upper Niagara river, a picnic with champagne, brie, grapes and olives, and attending or having a fun cocktail party at night.
Best place to grab a bite to eat? Without question, my favorite place to dine in Lewiston is Carmelo’s - the food is always scrumptious, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming and you may bring your favorite wine for a small corkage fee.

SUGGESTIONS FOR CROSSING THE BORDER
Have proof of citizenship (birth certificate or passport) readily available. Have birth certificate for each child in your vehicle. If traveling
with children who are not a part of your family, have a note or proof that the child has permission to cross the border with you.
Turn off radios and car phones when talking to border agents. Declare all fruits, vegetables, plants and plant products, animals,
birds, eggs, meat and meat products. Declare all items acquired for personal use. Resident aliens must carry residency cards at all times. Dogs and cats must be free of evidence of diseases communicable
to humans. Dogs older than three months must have proof of a rabies vaccination.
Don’t fool around. Customs and Immigration Agents on both sides of the border are law enforcement officials who take their duties very seriously.
Don’t drive under the influence of alcohol. Be patient. Additional security has been
instituted for safety on both sides of the border.
