Design Considerations: Header
• Code should be easy to edit. Graphic designers will refine our initial design.
• Vertical space is precious. 750 px is an acceptable width, though narrower (700px) would be ideal, if possible.
• Links in the header will open pop-ups or separate pages for member sign-in and account creation.
• Necessary navigation bar links include “Projects,” “Webcasts,” “Build-It-Blocks,” and “Invention Universe.” These are placeholders and are likely to be changed in the future.
Design Considerations: Front Page Content
• Code should be easy to edit. Graphic designers will refine our initial design.
• A slider will display up to three different projects or other BIY products we wish to feature. See www.nick.com and www.huskermax.com.
• Excessive icons clutter the screen and distract from the project being displayed. We should strive for a clean, Pixar-like appearance.
• Featured projects should appeal to groups of kids with different interests. The project that displays first when the page loads may be chosen randomly.
Robots That Make Money
The economy of Robot City is in the dumps. Build a contraption that will provide a service and make a profit!
Grammar
This slide should be kept updated as new terminology is developed.
• Webcast Session: A 1-hour live online meeting
• Webcast Series: A sequence of 8 to 10 Webcast Sessions over a two-month period
*Note: To avoid confusion, please use “Webcast Session” and “Webcast Series” instead of “Webcast Workshop” or just “Webcast.
