Proposed Program Overview
• SDG&E filed an application with the CPUC for a pilot program, connected…..to the sun on January 17th, 2012.
• Pilot program will be up to 10 MW for Share the Sun, a community solar program, and up to 10 MW for SunRate, a green tariff
• Share the Sun would enable customers to invest or lease off-site solar energy systems from a solar provider and sell the energy to SDG&E
• SunRate would allow customers to purchase green energy from local solar projects under contract to SDG&E
• If the programs are successful, SDG&E will request the CPUC to allow the program to be expanded

RECs associated with subscribed energy are retired by SDG&E on behalf of the customer. Customer subscriptions do not count toward SDG&E’s RPS requirements. Unsubscribed energy count towards SDG&E’s 60 MW Renewable FiT requirements if FiT cap not yet reached.
Proposed Share the Sun Program
Share the Sun Potential Benefits
• Pilot program size is up to 10 MW total (SDG&E will request CPUC to expand if successful and customer demand continues)
• SDG&E will purchase unsubscribed energy for its RPS (if RPS is oversubscribed, it will go beyond RPS compliance)
• SDG&E automatically allocates facility’s generation among participants/Provider and delivers bill-credit to customer
• SDG&E will create awareness of program to customers • Solar providers have the option to identify and develop their
own project sites • Solar provider maintains flexibility related to customer
agreement

Customers can purchase local solar energy from SDG&E at the solar portfolio cost. A minimum one-year subscription commitment is required. Subscription cost updates annually for annual subscribers and remains fixed for long-term subscribers.
Proposed SunRate Program Benefits
• Expands solar access and greater alternatives to all bundled SDG&E customers
• Removes site restrictions and building ownership as a hurdle to solar energy use
• Allows participants to take their solar subscription with them when moving within SDG&E’s service territory
• Pilot program size is up to 10 MW total (SDG&E will request CPUC to expand if successful and customer demand continues)
• Increase purchases of competitively priced solar
