Julie Mayhew is the director of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for Burrillville Public Schools, RI. Trained as an elementary educator, she earned her B.A. from Stonehill College. She was inspired to pursue reading instruction as a specialty after an internship in London, and then earned a master’s degree in reading, language, and learning disabilities from Harvard. Mrs. Mayhew taught for more than 20 years before moving into administration. Her experience includes both private and public schools as well as a rehabilitation hospital. In 2010, Mrs. Mayhew began training through the Principal Residency Network, and then became principal of the Austin T. Levy elementary school in Burrillville before taking on her district-level role.

Maeve Murray is the project manager overseeing the Fuse RI Fellowship at Highlander Institute. Before starting at the Institute, Maeve was a founding high school math and special education teacher at Village Green Virtual Charter School in downtown Providence, RI. She has also previously worked as an education policy fellow for the Rhode Island Governor’s Office, and taught English as a second language and American literature through the Fulbright Bulgaria program. She lives in Providence, RI.

Rebecca Willner is an ELA teacher at Beacon Charter High School for the Arts in Woonsocket, RI. She originally came to Rhode Island to study Greek and Latin at Brown University, but she inevitably turned towards teaching, completing the MAT program also at Brown. She believes in equality, access, and choice for all students, and she can’t wait to see all the amazing pockets of blended learning happening throughout Rhode Island.
