Kelly R. is an oil painter who specializes in landscapes and Native American imagery. He usually works from a photograph found in a Southwestern Art magazine. Kel-ly’s favorite artist is Paul Klee, and he is more than happy to give you information on the artist, and especially how he has influenced Kelly’s personal work. Kelly is very patient in his painting, and takes his time building up layers of color and value, eventually creating an image that is extremely rich in detail.

emily D. is one of those artists with no shortage of inspiration. At no point does Emily ask for design sug-gestions or take a break during art class. Shoes, farm animals and aliens are just a few of the various sub-jects Emily has painted. Her creative routine begins with an idea she has sketched out in her notebook, then a planned out drawing with color, which on its own could be a finished piece, and finally the paint-ed image. A painting of Emily’s is recognizable from across the room due to her bold use of line and color. Her style has been developing since day one as she is now mixing more of her own colors, adding varieties of hues into backgrounds, and playing with depth and perspective.

Artists Kelly R. and Emily D. will be painting their paradise in the reception area, with an opportunity to bid on their work.

Live entertainment: Aly Tadros and Douglas Jay Boyd of the Sweetness will be performing a few songs with our Arc of the Arts artists. http://wethesweetness.com/bio.php

ABout the ArC The Arc of the Capital Area (The Arc) was founded in 1949 by parents whose children

with developmental disabilities were excluded from public schools.

Programs and services include: Family and Caregiver Support, Intake and Referral, Juvenile Justice, Adult Case Management, Basic Needs and Crisis Assistance, as well as the Arc of the Arts Studio & Gallery.

Many of the works of art you see tonight were created at the Arc of the Arts Studio and Gallery by artists who have intellectual or developmental disabilities. To earn more about this program visit arcofthearts.com.

ArC of the Arts studio & GAlleryArc of the Arts Studio & Gallery provides an artistic bridge between people with

developmental disabilities and the community. In the Traber Studio we teach art to individuals with developmental disabilities. Clients sell their exceptional art in the adjoining Cool Family Gallery, and also receive pre-employment skills training. In addition, we have museum-like souvenir items, featuring reproductions of some of our clients’ best artwork, i.e., coffee mugs, calendars and note cards. We are located at 6717 Burnet Road in Austin, Texas, and are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Stop by for a visit!

Note cards featuring paintings by Arc Artists will be available

for sale at the event.

In her 30 years as a working painter in Austin, Texas, Linda Dumont has been quite prolific. Her gallery, located in downtown Austin, bears witness to this, boasting large abstract paintings, Austin cityscape paintings and iconic Texas landmarks abundant with the vibrant colors and bold strokes for which Dumont has become known. The real magic, however, takes place at her working studio, located on the Eastside of Austin at 815 E. 52nd Street, where Dumont toils away, turning blank canvases into multi-colored masterpieces.

My name is Eli, short for Elizabeth. These paintings are about food and sharing and living together and working together. My paintings are made on recycled wood with oil, acrylic, spray-paint and sometimes gold, glitter, crushed glass and pearls. My favorite subjects to paint are paws, cheeks, whiskers and claws.
