Dear Music Works Northwest Friends, Welcome to the 2014 Rhythm & Hues Benefit Auction and thank you for joining us for this very special evening. This is the major annual fundraising event for Music Works Northwest, your non-profit community music school. Our theme this year is “Building the Future.” Our stated mission is to enrich the quality of life for people of all ages through accessible music education and experiences. However, at Music Works Northwest we realize that our responsibility to accessibility includes people with diverse talents, abilities and financial situations. This year is very special and exciting because we are moving into a new home. It is a big step that will enable Music Works to provide better services in an upgraded environment. Naturally, there is a cost associated with such a project. So far we have received overwhelming support from our major donors, the City of Bellevue, King County and others. So please, join them to help us build a community music school for kids of all ages. You have our assurance that we will continue to be accessible at our new and very convenient location. Thus, we need the support of the broader community in order to not only maintain our current programming but also to develop exciting new programs. By participating in the auction, your generous support will help us not only create a beautiful new facility, but it will also further our mission of providing accessible music education through public school outreach programs, music therapy, free concerts, merit scholarships and tuition assistance for the families who cannot afford full tuition. Your presence at the event, as well as your financial support, is critical to achieve these goals. In this catalog we are excited to offer you a broad variety of items, from outstanding travel, to great opportunities to enjoy our regional restaurants and arts scenes. We encourage you to browse all the fantastic offerings, bid generously, and most of all, enjoy the evening. With your help Music Works’ future looks brighter than ever.

Welcome to the 2014 Rhythm and Hues Auction. Tonight is a particularly special night celebrating our past successes and contributions, while excitedly embracing our future and the dynamic changes ahead for Music Works NW. Never before has “Building for the Future” had more meaning as Music Works NW prepares to move to a new updated campus and implement changes that will propel our music education and therapy programs, talented faculty, supportive families and diligent hard working students, into the next 50 years. Music Works NW has seen much change over its 48-year history. We all know change is inevitable and with growth comes vitality. In the process of searching for a new home, the response from government, community leaders and the arts community has been a resounding reaffirmation of our good work and the difference Music Works Northwest makes in the lives of our community, families and students. Our new campus environment will better encourage interaction and collaboration, prepare our students to perform and share their artistic endeavors with others and embrace the role of technology in the music education of the future. These qualities, our talented music educators and staff differentiate Music Works Northwest in the pursuit of our non-profit mission to enrich the quality of life for people of all ages through accessible music education and experiences. Moving a music school to a new location is a laborious and costly endeavor. In the past your support and generosity toward Music Works Northwest has helped us sustain and grow our mission, creating greater possibilities for many more lives through the invaluable rewards of music education. Tonight, the need is greatly amplified and we ask for your giving to be informed by the impact and meaning your generosity will have in reestablishing the future of Music Works NW. We thank you for the ongoing support and the role you play in impacting the lives of Music Works Northwest students. Enjoy the wonderful music all around us and have terrific evening of dining, dancing and donating.

Wines

2010 Merlot 95% Merlot, 3% Malbec, 2% Syrah

Columbia Valley A dry, fruity Merlot that opens with a nose of sweet cherry, strawberry fruit leather and green peppercorn. There is a subtle spiciness here

along with hints of cocoa, leather, black plum and earth. Bold tannins now, will mellow with cellaring.

2012 Chardonnay 93% Chardonnay - Desert Wind Vineyard,

7% Viognier - Upland Vineyard Columbia Valley

Full bodied and richly textured with a lovely pale gold hue, this chardonnay displays a purity of fruit with flavors of apple, pear and

2014 Rhythm & Hues Cocktails Support Music Works Northwest while enjoying a fabulous cocktail! The Marriott’s expert mixologists will be serving two decadent cocktails created just for us. The Rhythm and Hues cocktails come in two varieties. The Blue Hue recalls holidays at the sea, with its flavors of orange and lime. The Pink Hue takes you to the tropics on a cloud of Mango, Blood Orange and Passionfruit.

Indulge your taste buds while supporting Music Works! Simply give your bid number to a roving cocktail volunteer to purchase a special Cocktail card for $25, then take it to the bartender and have your drink created. A portion of the proceeds benefit Music Works Northwest!

Music Works Northwest Raffle Tickets 50/50 Raffle For just $5 per raffle ticket you have the opportunity to win 50% of this raffle’s proceeds. Look for the raffle ticket sales person who is wearing the red balloon. 50/50 Raffle auction will occur at the beginning of the live auction. WIN a new SURFACE TABLET! – Play the “Heads or Tails” Raffle At the end of the evening you could take home Surface Tablet! Wrap this item up with only $20 per raffle necklace. Look for the sales person with the white balloons. Each person only needs 1 necklace to be eligible to play. Make sure to wear your necklace so that the auctioneer can identify you at the time of the raffle. Here’s how this raffle works:

1. At the time of the raffle, the auctioneer will ask all guests that are participating, everyone with a colorful necklace, to stand up. They will be advised to place their hands on "their head or their tail".

2. The auctioneer will flip a coin and announce if it comes up "heads or tails".

3. Individuals that have their hands on the part of the body that the auctioneer calls out remain standing. The others sit down.

4. Steps 2 & 3 are repeated until there's one person standing - the winner!

Have fun and help build the future of Music Works Northwest.

Thanks to Jonathan & Nancy Cluts for their donation of the Microsoft Surface Tablet!

The road up the hill winds through olive groves, vineyards, and farmhouses and arrives at the entrance of Cortona's ancient walls. The newly renovated two bedroom apartment comfortably sleeps 2-3 people, and is furnished with Tuscan antiques and period furniture, terracotta floors and with handpainted decorative stenciling on the warm-toned walls. OR Il Pozzo is a lovely 2 bedroom apartment situated right in the center of Cortona. It is flanked by two streets, the windows look out over Via Nazionale, the main shopping street in Cortona and the entrance is one street up, a quiet little courtyard. Upon entering Il Pozzo, you step down into the living, dining and kitchen area, all restored with exquisite attention to decor and details. The kitchen windows look out over Via Nazionale, and you can observe the comings and goings of the passersby. Bali, Indonesia Bali lies directly north of Australia, the middle pearl in the necklace of islands stretching from Malaysia to New Guinea which comprise the modern nation of Indonesia. Geographically small but culturally
