Proposed County Bond and Connect NC Bond Project List Proposed Changes
Background:
The purpose of this memo is to summarize changes made to the proposed 2018 county bond project list and the
Connect NC state bond project list.
Connect NC Bond
On June 13, 2016, the Alamance Community College Board of Trustees approved how the College would utilize
the $6.1M in Connect NC state bonds allocated to the College. Following is a brief summary of what was
approved.

College Administration proposes the following changes to align 2018 county bond and NC Connect bond
projects with predicted funds to ensure the College’s facilities master plan is fully implemented over the next 10

years. The major change from the original list is transferring design work for the Powell Building renovation and
Student Center new construction to the proposed county bond, transferring satellite location development to the
proposed county bond and/or county capital allocation, increasing the scope of the original backfill project, and
reducing the culinary renovation/expansion project scope.

Action Required: Be it resolved that the Building and Grounds Committee recommends to the College’s Board
of Trustees to approve the revised above facilities improvement projects in the aggregate amount of $6,100,339
to be funded by means of Connect NC Bond funds.
Proposed Alamance County Bond Referendum
On April 4, 2017, and April 7, 2017, the Alamance Community College Building and Grounds Committee and
Finance Committee met and approved the following expansion projects utilizing proposed a 2018 County Bond
Referendum. The Alamance Community College Board of Trustees approve the projects on April 11, 2017. The
2018 Alamance County Bonds were to be allocated to the College as follows:

Due to reassessed needs, updates have been made regarding expending the $39.6M in 2018 Alamance County
Bond Referendum funds if passed in November 2018. The goal of the bond is to upgrade college facilities that
prepare students for jobs and university transfer by modernizing academic and job-training classrooms and
facilities, creating a Public Safety Training Center, expanding the Natural and Life Science Facilities, building a
new Student Services Learning and Development Center, and constructing a Student Vehicle Center. Major
changes from the original list include adding the Public Safety Training Center, removing the new library from the
bond measure, decreasing the scope of Natural and Life Science Facilities, decreasing the scope of the Multi-
Deck Student/Visitor Vehicle Center, and adding Satellite Campus Development. The project updates are as
follows:

of Trustees to approve the above revised facilities improvement projects in the aggregate amount of
$39,600,000 to be funded by means of a public Alamance County bond referendum.
