True stewardship is other directed. The question a steward always
tries to answer is: “What is the best way I can show my love for this
neighbor?”
Have you remembered St. Joseph in your will?
Where there is a Will there is a way to be an angel for our parish. It can be as simple as including one specific sentence in your will. To learn more about how St. Joseph Church can
be remembered in your estate, contact Deacon Michael Shumway in the Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Mission Advancement at 502-585-3291 or by email

BUILT TO HONOR
Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dt 6:2-6; Ps 18:2-3, 3-4, 47, 51; Heb 7:23-28; Mk 12:28b-34
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all
your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30
It strikes me that of all the commandments, this first is the most
difficult because we are always tempted to put something or
someone else before God—our career, our possessions, our own
ego.
In order to love someone, we must come to know them. The
problem with knowing God is that God is invisible. However, the
Bible teaches that God can be known, whether it be through the
beauties of creation, through the study of astronomy or the wonders
of the human body. God also made Himself visible, in Jesus, who
came into our world as one like us. He taught beautiful truths about
God and about ourselves.
Jesus also reminds us of the second part of the Great
Commandment, which is to love our neighbor as ourselves. There
is a temptation to split these truths, making the mistake of
separating what God wants joined together—love of God and love
of neighbor.

Marriage Moment
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your
soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:31)
Yes, this is true. In addition to wholehearted love of God, can you
also say this about your beloved spouse since God lives in him or
her, also?
Parenting Pointer
November 2, was All Souls Day. How well do your children know
their deceased relatives? Why not help them remember by
praying for each by name today. Go back as far as you can
remember and perhaps reminisce about their saintly qualities.

Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
Congratulations! Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz has appointed Richard “Tink” Guthrie as vice-chancellor of the Archdiocese of Louisville. As vice-chancellor, Guthrie will assist the chancellor in administrative duties pertaining to the Office of the Archbishop. Guthrie has led the Office of Mission Advancement, which facilitates the Catholic Services Appeal, for the past three years. Prior to that, he assisted parishes in long-term planning. Dr. Brian B. Reynolds, chancellor and
chief administrative officer, said Guthrie’s position will have two primary focuses: to aid parishes in strategic efforts and to assist the chancellor in internal administrative duties.
Guthrie and his wife, Lucia, attend the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown, Ky.
