The 75,933-dwt Panamax bulk carrier BERGEN TRADER
was built at Kanasashi Co., Ltd., and delivered in Octo-
ber 2000.
The vessel is designed for carrying grain in bulk, coal
and ore, and is one of a series of 75,500-dwt type Panamax
bulk carriers built at the yard.
Cargo space is divided into seven (7) holds and the ves-
sel has topside tanks and double bottom with side hop-
per. Heavy cargo is to be loaded alternately in hold Nos.
1, 3, 5 and 7.
No.4 cargo hold is also used as ballast tank for safe navi-
gation at rough sea.
The vessel has wide hatches of 16.15 m long x 12.80 m
wide for No.1 hold; 18.70 m long x 14.00 m wide for Nos.
2~7.
The main engine is low-speed, long-stroke diesel engine

The 46,786-dwt bulk carrier TARAPACA was completed
in June 2000 at Kanasashi Co., Ltd. to the order of Empire
Marine S.A. of Panama.
The vessel is designed for carrying grain in bulk, coal,
steel products, packaged lumber, nitrate concentrates and
fish meal* (* No.1~4 cargo holds), and is one of a series
of 46,600-dwt type bulk carriers built at the yard.
Cargo space is divided into five (5) holds and having
topside tanks and double bottom with side hopper.
Heavy cargo is to be loaded alternately in hold Nos. 1, 3
and 5.
No.3 cargo hold is also used as a ballast tank for safe
navigation at rough sea.
The vessel has wide hatches of 14.40 m long x 15.60 m
wide for No.1 hold; 20.00 m long x 15.60 m wide for Nos.2,
3, 4 and 5.

The 4,373-unit car carrier GRAND CHOICE was com-
pleted in February 1999 at Kanasashi Co., Ltd. to the or-
der of Pioneer Shipping Navigation Inc. of Panama.
The vessel has twelve (12) car decks including two (2)
liftable decks for stowing large-sized vehicles such as
dump trucks etc. It is designed to carry not only cars
and RVs, but also various types of truck and dump truck.
The vessel is equipped with a stern ramp on starboard
side and two center ramps on both sides. The stern ramp
is strong enough for loading large-size vehicle for a total
weight of 981 kN (100 t).
An electric motor-driven bow thruster with a thrust of
171 kN (17.5 t) is fitted for easy berthing.
To comply with NK M0 classification standards, a 24-hour
unattended machinery
space system is provided.
