Legal thrillerFact is stranger than ction...

Yet another Tzaneen lawyer is to be investigated by the Law Society. Mr Alan Young, who operates his own law practice, will have to answer to accusations — including some regarding his fi rm’s trust account. Documents in our posession about certain events read like fi ction. Read more about it on p 9. In the meantime we can disclose that a Pretoria company has obtained judgement against Mr Conrad Krüger’s Blue Moonlight Properties, to sell a number of erven in the Golden Acres Security Complex next to the Tzaneen Dam. See p 9.

Miss Fabulocity Limpopo is set to mesmerize spectators when it hosts its fi rst ever beauty pageant event at Hotel@ Tzaneen tomorrow.

This captivating concept has been deeply rooted in Ms Sewela Kgatla (founder) for years and together with other phenomenal women of Limpopo who are in full support of this initiative. According to Kgatla, the idea came from a negative experience of being mal-treated as a big (plus size) woman. That experience later gave birth to an idea for self pride and confi dence.

Kgatla said: “I knew from that day that I will never tolerate being treated like an unable per-son and to be made to feel like I am ugly or inadequate.

I then took the initiative and told myself that I want to be the one who changes how people look at my kind of women and help build their self esteem, and to also make them feel beautiful not only out-side, but from inside”.

The winner of this pageant will play the role of an ambassador and will be the host of the awareness “Big galz we are beauti-ful”, which will encourage those who are being victimized because of their physical structures.

Kgatla further said: “We want people of Limpopo to know that big girls are also beautiful and promote the healthy, plus size bodies in ways that people never ex-pected”.

Afrikaans Is Groot!

Nog minder as hy

Afrikaans Is Groot?Afrikaans In Gat! Ingat Afrikaans!

www.bulletin.us.com Facts and guresof our Digital footprint

• Our website has experienced an ever-increasing amount of tra c over the past year. The growth shows clear and encouraging signs that we are indeed reaching readers even beyond the social bounds of Tzaneen.

• A large percentage of online users utilise mobile devices to access either our facebook page and group or our website.

• It seems Samsung is the leading mobile device with which to access Bulletin, followed closely by Apple.

• Readers from all over the world access the website to stay up to date with news in Tzaneen

and surrounds. A large portion of these readers are ex-South Africans and ex-Tzaneeners.

• The ow between social media and our website is remarkably active and compete with general direct access numbers.

• Social media and the web still plays second ddle to the printed Bulletin, however, and physical demand is growing.

• Digital advertising demand in general is small but growing. It will act as an addition to customer’s marketing backbone of print advertising rather than replacing it. This trend will continue for the forseeable future.

Arrested at BolobeduPolice at Bolobedu arrested 63 suspects for various off ences over the weekend: 22 people were arrested for drinking in public, ten for housebreaking and theft , eight for assault GBH, fi ve for failure to comply with maintenance orders, four for assault, four for murder, four for rape, two for illegal gambling, two for possession of dagga and the rest for att empted rape and malicious damage to property.

Fifteen behind barsThe police in Modjadjiskloof arrested fi ft een

suspects for various criminal activities over the weekend: three people were arrested for house breaking and theft , three for assault GBH, three for contravening the Liquor Act, three for contravening the Traffi c Act, two for possession of dagga and one for rape.

Fifteen arrested at RitaviIt looks like fi ft een was the lucky number for the police in Ritavi over the past weekend as well. They also arrested fi ft een people for various criminal activities: fi ve people were arrested for robbery, three for assault GBH, two for theft , two for house breaking and the rest were arrested for assault, murder and rape.

Double homicide A 35-year-old man was arrested for the brutal murder of two people at Ga-Mapitola village in Bolobedu South over the weekend.

The deceased, Modjadji California Malatji (30) and Mangwako Helena Malatji (71), are reportedly the younger sister and mother

of the suspect’s ex-girlfriend. The suspect allegedly went to visit the ex-girlfriend at their home. When he did not fi nd her, he att acked the family and stabbed the ex-girlfriend’s younger sister and mother. The younger sister died immediately and the mother died upon her arrival at Van Velden Hospital.

The suspect ran away aft er the ordeal and was caught by the police the following day. He reportedly was released on bail a few months ago, aft er he had been arrested for a murder incident at nearby Marirong village. He will appear in the Bolobedu Magistrates Court soon on two counts of murder.

Man arrested for killing his partner

A 47-year-old man was arrested for shooting his girlfriend, Paulinah Seoka (46), at Ga-Ramphenyane village over the weekend. The suspect, reportedly a security guard at the Department of Home Aff airs in Modjadjiskloof, allegedly visited the

girlfriend at her home. An argument broke out between the two and he shot her several times in the head and then ran away. She died upon her arrival at Ga-Kgapane Hospital. The cause of the argument is unknown. During the arrest of the suspect, a fi rearm believed to be the one used to kill the deceased was recovered.

Illegal connections lead to death

Gladwin Mbalati (30) from Dan Village died aft er he was shocked by electricity while allegedly stealing power from an electrical mast over the weekend. The police are investigating the case.

Fake police o cersThe SAPS in Bolobedu warned residents and commuters of people impersonating police offi cers around the shopping complex. A woman was recently robbed by people who claimed to be police offi cers. Bolobedu police are investigating the incident.

Residents of Dan Village, Lusaka and Nkowankowa are tired of living in fear. A group of hoodlums calling themselves ‘Boko-haram’ has been terrorising these communities, robbing and injuring people and allegedly having even killed someone. The most recent violent act of the group was witnessed during the annual Munghana Lonene fm Awards, which was held at Nkowankowa Stadium. The group allegedly hacked a number of people with machetes and raped some. No one, however, has yet pressed charges or opened a case against the group.

The group has reportedly more than fty members and is said to be headed by a local man, whose name has been withheld for safety reasons. The residents recently approached him. The man reportedly confessed to funding the group with money and weapons and that he buys them “skopo” — pork head — as a reward. A confession video and recordings by a member of “Boko-haram”, who was captured by angry members of the community, have been

handed to the Ritavi SAPS. The group is also believed to be operating

with a police o cer. The police o cer allegedly communicates information of all police activities to the thugs. He is also said to supply dagga, cell phones and weapons to inmates, supplied to him by “Boko-haram”.

An urgent community meeting was held earlier and a committee was formed to address the situation, as a matter of urgency. During the meeting, Capt Nkuna of the Ritavi SAPS advised the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. He requested all victims to report attacks on them to the local police, to help the SAPS bring the thugs to book.

The residents agreed not to take action but warned that should the SAPS fail to attend to the matter within fteen days, they will have no alternative but to deal with the group themselves.

Hundred fl y to Cuba to studyThis week marked the beginning of a long journey for hundred Limpopo students who were accepted by the Department of Health to study medicine in Cuba.

So far the department has sent 341 students to study in Cuba and some have already re-turned to serve the communities of Limpopo. A total of 52 students have already completed their studies and are working as medical in-terns, while 198 students are still studying in Cuba. Moreover, 34 students are working as community service doctors and medical offi -cers and 43 are doing their fi nal clinical train-ing at local medical schools.

Pharmacist assistants graduateThe Department of Health hosted a gradua-tion ceremony for pharmacist assistants in

line with the SA Pharmacy Council law which made it compulsory for all pharmaceutical institutions (pharmacies) to operate with reg-istered pharmacy personnel (Pharmacists and Pharmacist Assistants).

Amongst some of the objectives of this pro-gramme are to build capacity at PHC and hospitals with the aim of improving service delivery at the facilities as well as supporting the Ideal Clinic Concept by placing qualifi ed Post Basic Pharmacist Assistants at the clinics.

In total, 149 students graduated with 99 for Basic and fi ft y Post Basic courses. Students enrolled for this programme are trained for a

period of two years.

Wings for fl ight crewThe Limpopo Department of Health in partner-ship with The SA Red Cross Air Mercy Service provides an emergency aero-medical service via a fully equipped dedicated medical inten-sive care helicopter. The helicopter, ‘The Pride of Limpopo’, provides rapid emergency transporta-tion of sick and injured patients.

The service provides Advanced Life Sup-port services to the community ranging from primary responses, rescue and inter-hospital transfers. ‘The Pride of Limpopo’ has completed 1 811 fl ights since its inception in 2009.

T he handing over of ‘wings’ was in recogni-tion of the commitment of the aero-medical crew and their contribution to the diff erence they are making in the lives of the community.

At what cost are we pick-ing our batt les?Picking batt les is not a virtue of mine. I am not particularly vocal in crowds, but I struggle to go for the bliss of ignorance during more intimate conversations. It seems worthless to be a part of an inter-action that will only breed more ignorance in the world.

At the same time, beyond stating my opinion when asked for it or when the opportunity seems most convenient, I know picking bat-tles is the safest quasi-intellectual route out of very uncomfortable situations.

I know I have recently been in a couple too many situations where I could hear a man beating his girlfriend nearby. Everyone else

around picked their batt les and I also picked mine, felt bad and gave excuses for it. I also know that at one point it was one stupid man beating his girlfriend and ev-eryone looked away. Some time later, more and more stupid men felt safe to beat their girlfriends in our presence.

As we engage in our 16 Days of Activism, perhaps we should also remember that it is always easy to march with placards denounc-ing the alleged violence and abuse against women and children. The biggest challenge yet is what we do beyond and even during the consecrated days of activism when we privately, suddenly or secretly

witness the violence.Picking batt les does seem safe

when a grown man brags about the high school girls he is illegally sleeping with. No one dares to challenge his criminality, and so he sleeps with more and more high school girls.

Picking batt les also seems safe when we see a woman who exer-cised her right to dress as she pleas-es harassed by men on the streets. The onlookers look aside and the street harassment continues.

Moreover, we react in disbelief or

we victim blame when survivors of violence and abuse speak-out.

I must say, I am very surprised at some of the reactions to Bill Cosby’s sexual assault accusers. Cosby is

undoubtedly a world-renowned comedian. His portrayal of black people, especially through his comedy series The Cosby Show, made a signifi cant contribution to the image of black families in tele-vision world-wide. Most of us ad-mired him.

However, he is still a man. In my opinion, although it is very sad that a man of his status would allegedly perpetrate sexual assault, the situ-ation points to the pervasiveness of rape culture, violence and abuse

against women and children. So oft en do we point to the ho-

bo-looking man on the streets as someone more likely to rape and act with violence against women and children. We continuously ig-nore our culture that raises men to believe they are entitled to sexual appeasement by women. A man gives you a hand at something and in turn asks you to kiss him or to touch his private parts.

Cosby is not the only high-pro-fi le man who has been accused of sexual assault. Our very own presi-dent has been accused of sexual as-sault. Disturbing reactions against his accuser emerged as well.

Surely our activism is redundant if we are not prepared to have a no tolerance no excuse att itude against violence and abuse.

Nuus).

More good news for Limpopo’s Lowveld from the MediClin-ic Tzaneen... a new radiologist who will be using the latest state of the art equipment has moved to Tzaneen and will be “in action” as of Monday (1 December).

Dr Hanief Moosa said earlier this week that he is very excited to be in Tzaneen. His radiology practice will be in the Medi-Clinic Hospital. He can hardly wait to introduce his state of the art equipment that will provide effi cient and high-quality service to the community of Tzaneen and surrounding towns.

“It’s all digital,” he explained. “It’s a signifi cant upgrade for the area — the new CT scanner, Fluoroscopy and Mammog-raphy machines will help provide more accurate, detailed and more effi cient diagnosis. Soon, referring doctors and pa-tients will be able to view their images on their iPads/tablets.”

The 32-year-old Pretoria born and bred doctor comes from a family of doctors. His father is a family physician. He has two older brothers who are both dermatologists and his mother

is an MD — a “ Mother of Doctors”, he ex-plained laughingly. “With everyone in my family in medicine, becoming a doctor was a natural instinct to me,” he said.

Moosa spent twelve years studying at the University of the Witwatersrand. He spent the past two and a half years prac-tising at Mediclinic Newcastle, KwaZu-lu-Natal, before coming to Tzaneen.

He has an interest in Musculoskeletal (MSK) radiology and was the fi rst Af-rican recipient of the prestigious Euro-pean School of Radiology (ESOR) MSK visiting scholarship in 2010, when he spent three months training in France.

The young doctor is also currently pursuing an additional qualifi cation, the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radio-

logy (London) for which he has one last exam to complete.

Moosa arrived in Tzaneen with his wife Raeesah and three month old daughter Ayesha.

Born and bred in Welkom, Raeesah is a qualifi ed Charted Accountant and will help in managing the prac-tice. She studied at the University of Johannesburg and has been practising for fi ve years.

The young family says they enjoy tak-ing part in sport and doing outdoor ac-tivities in their spare time. They cannot wait to explore the surrounding areas.

“We look forward to seeing your problem through!” the doc-tor exclaimed his practice’s slogan: AfriRad Medical Imaging.

It was highlighted that the former (sic!) Municipal Manager was deployed by the ANC and the caucus agreed that the ANC must intervene”.

plaaslike bestuur ingelig is, want die notule lui “On the renewal of Acting Municipal Manager’s contract the ANC was consulted and the matter is awaiting the MEC’s concurrency”.

Dit lyk in elk geval of die ANC die waarnemende bestuurder wil behou, want verder in die notule word gesê “It was further hinted that for the purpose of stability we need to retain him”.

In 2006 het ‘n weduwee, ene Elsabe van der Poll, oor haar wyle man se boedelsake by Young beland.

So verduidelik Van Vuuren.

mynboumaatskappy (sonder naam?)

Whilst in Grade 9 in 2012, eight young girls at Stanford Lake College decided to do something about the lack of a library at Glenshiel Primary School (outside Haenerts-burg). They call themselves the Read with Me Foundation. Aft er three years of hard work, enough funds were raised to make this a reality and Mignon Erasmus found a sponsor to help with the cost of installing a wooden structure to serve as a library. Pic-tured here is the group on the veranda of the spacious new Glenshiel Library. Their

next project is to install shelving and to fi ll them with books, suitable for 6-12 year olds. On the to-do list as well, is to upgrade the power supply to enable Wi-Fi to be installed. Another sponsor has off ered them an add-ed wooden building to serve as a computer/science room. It would put this farm school fi rmly in the computer age when all is in-stalled and the power switched on! The team members are Atida Moyo, Makungu Valoyi, Reneilwe Komape, Naledi Kgosana, Noban-tu Seleka, Mignon Erasmus and Atiya Kalla.

Vir meer besonderhede: Me Mari Weber by 082 440 1555.

A batch of ‘shoe box’ Christmas gift parcels were distributed to the approximately fifty children at the Scholtz Sawmill School situated at the bottom of the Magoebaskloof pass. Some Stanford Lake College Grade 9 pupils accompanied three teachers to do the hand out. The kids were almost stunned and showed

their happiness very clearly.

MDDK vier suksesvolle 2014

So kon juffrou en 2015 se gr. R’e mekaar beter leer ken. Larrieland is natuurlik

die Laerskool Tzaneen se nuwe gr R-afdeling.

Giyani Hot Spurs is hoping to have a bett er innings this season than in previous years, under a new coach, Musa Nkondo, who has just joined the team. In his fi rst match in the SAFA Second Division League, previously known as the Vodacom League, he steered the team to a convincing win of 3-0 against Polokwane United.

Nkondo brings hope to Giyani soccer lovers that their No 1 team may have a chance to win the SAFA Second Division League and even proceed to the National First Division.

Although the team played well in past seasons and held good positions in the SAFA Second Division League, they have not been able to win at the fi nals when everybody was expecting them to proceed. This lead to the new coach being brought in to turn things around.

Speaking about the strength of the team, the team manager

Derrick Baloyi said they have made many changes, making them stand a bett er chance of winning the league this season — including the introduction of a new group of goalkeepers. “I think we have a bett er chance now than ever before, especially with the inclusion of new players and a new coach.”.

Meanwhile, the new coach was not happy with his team’s performance, despite the fact that they won against United.

“We missed a number of obvious chances which could easily have been converted into goals,” he explained, adding that this was dangerous when playing against strong sides.

“To win the league, we need to be a strong side that is able to convert every opportunity into goals, because you don’t get many chances to win a game,” he said.

Schalk Warmenhoven is in die senior kategorie as nasionale kampioen aangewys.

“Sou, died djoe forghet ybaut Bossie’s mist kiek ien de karriekap faainil?” vra ArthurIngelsman.

Koebaai, John Philip Botha, jy’s ‘n ware gentleman!

“If we had a consensus we wouldn’t have to go to a referendum.” — George Papandreou

Pardova stotter, kibbel en koebaai!

Pardova stotter,
