President’s Message :

Many thanks again to Andrew for stepping up to the plate at short notice and delivering his excellent “me-talk”.Randle is in the final throes of completing the clubs audit so the AGM will go ahead scheduled for the 16th Dec 2009. The Christmas function is on for Friday 11th Dec at Madigans. The normal meeting for Wednesday 9th Dec has been cancelled accordingly.Immediate past president Lindsay did very well successfully answering the challenge question on the last four members to join our club and secured the $10. They are Miranda Daniels, Wilma Gibson, Darrel King and Andrew Lelliott.Of course a successfully answered question needs to be replaced so question 7 now will be:Name any four of the Rotary designated months of the year. That is the month and corresponding designation and quote the date upon which Rotary World Understanding and Peace is Observed each year. What a bumper Melbourne Cup Sweep result. $13k+. Many thanks again to a tremendous team effort.I am currently in Darwin enjoying the humidity and newest grandson but will be back for the meeting.Don’t forget this weeks meeting is at the Irrantje Café, Desert Knowledge Precinct.Time: 6.30 for 7.00pmPlease park in the first car park on the left, before you arrive at the roundabout.

The guest speaker will be Keith Castle from the Desert People's Centre who will give an update on the Centre and progress now that it is up and running as opposed to being the building site it was, when we were last there.

The life and times of Andrew Lelliot

Andrew and his wife Katherine really love Alice Springs, having been here many times over the years. They decided at the beginning of the year to make it their home for a while.

Before this Andrew lived and worked in many spots, particularly Victoria including Apollo Bay (which has changed tremendously in recent years and Andrew would be a billionaire if he bought up the main street). He’s also resided in Ouyen, Shepparton, Port Fairy, and Deniliquin in NSW.


They travel a lot, including Birdsville and Alice in 1968. He and Katherine look for adventures whenever time allows. . Work has involved the Power Corporation of Victoria which cut staff by 50% after privatisation and changes in Victoria’s power supply regime brought about by Geoffrey Gibb Kennett. Here in the NT, Andrew is Regional Manager South- Lines and Connections.

He’s really ‘got into Alice Springs with participation in as many events as possible. Since living in Central Australia he’s been a chorister, a thespian, a Rotarian obviously, and sees and ‘tastes’ as much as he can of everything on offer. He enjoys service clubs, having been a Rotarian ‘down south’

Thanks Andrew, a great talk with a message that more of us should emulate, namely experience all we can, lower the barriers and try new things.

We look forward to your experience and input in years to come.
