수요일에 저는 4개의 국제학교- United Nations International School, New York, 헤이그 미국 국제학교, 본 국제학교- 관리자 중의 한 명으로 토론에 참석하였습니다. 저희는 뉴욕의 콜롬비아 대학, 사범대 Klingenstein 센터 동창생들입니다. 이번에는 국제학교와 그 학교가 각 나라의 공립이나 사립 학교들과 달리 탁월할 수 있었던 요소들에 대한 토론을 주관해 줄 것을 요청 및 초청 받았습니다. 청중들은 콜롬비아 대학을 졸업하고 교육계에 교사와 리더로서의 자격을 준비하고 있는 학생들이었습니다.
저희는 교사 기회들, 전문적 개발, 국제적인 흐름속의 지역단체, 학생 경험, 가족 경험, 이주 국가로의 이전과 문화적 연합 등에 대해 언급하고 토론하였습니다. 관심도와 토론의 깊이는 그 날의 오후를 매우 값지게 하였습니다. 국제학교 이사회의 대화와 토론 중에, 명확한 정의가 필요하다고 대두된 두 단어가 화제가 되었습니다. 바로, ‘international’과 ‘global’입니다.

저희는 최근 새로운 형식의 Bulletin게재에 문제가 있다는 것을 알고 있습니다. 이 문제를 해결하는데 주력하고 있습니다. 양해 부탁드립니다.
육계와 경제계의 많은 분들이 이 두 단어를 상호호환적으로 사용하고 있음을 더욱 명확하게 알게 되었습니다. 다음 학년도에는 우리의 교훈 중의 하나인 ‘international mindedness’의 의미를 더욱 명확하게 하는 것이 저희들의 임무가 되어야 할 것이라고 생각했습니다. 왜냐하면 그 교훈이야말로 ‘global’하게 되는데 매우 중요한 요소이기 때문입니다. 우리가 우리의 미래를 예측하는데 있어 우리를 사회의 한 구성원으로서 이해하는 것이 이제는 필연적입니다. 저는 이러한 토의를 기대하고 있습니다. 또한 그를 통해 제 생각이 더욱 확고해지는 학습의 계기도 되기를 기대합니다. 언젠가 저녁식사를 하면서 여러분이나 자녀들의 생각은 어떤지 알 수 있을까요?

MYP와 DP학생들은 학생들이 직접 작성합니다.4.등교 마지막 날에 입학처에서 결재가 완료된 서류를 확인하고 성적표를 드립니다.

3 way conference는 학습 과정에 대해 학생, 학부모, 교사가 함께 토의하는 것입니다.
만일, 한국어 통역을 원하시면, 4월 21일 월요일 오전10:00시까지 Rachel님께 연락주시기 바랍니다.
이번 3-Way Conferences에는 어떤 학생들이 참여하나요?
1) 신입생으로서, 아직 담임선생님과 상담을 하지 않았던 학생들.2) MYP 학생 중, 1학기 성적 중, 2점을 받은 학과목이 있는 학생들3) DP 학생의 경우, 교사가 요청한 경우.4) 교사가 학생의 학습과정에 대한 상담이 필요하다고 느껴서 의뢰한 경우.
언제 상담 요청을 수령하게 되나요?
만일 상담이 필요한 경우, 담당 교사로부터4월 15일 화요일 이전에 이메일을 받으셨을 것입니다.
상담 요청 메일을 받지 않은 경우라도 상담을 할 수 있나요?

4월 24-27일에 있을ACAMIS Soccer 토너먼트를 위한 홈스테이 가정이 아직 더 필요합니다.
저희는ACAMIS Soccer 를 위한 학생들 잠자리가 조금 부족합니다.
홈스테이 초청의 경험은 방문학생이나 초대학생 모두에게 매우 긍정적인 경험이 될 것입니다.
모든 교통편이 제공되오니, 여러분이 해 주셔야 할 일은 몇 끼의 식사와 잠자리 제공 뿐입니다.

SSL EAST-WEST MEET
4월 12일 지난 토요일에, 상하이 수영대회 East-West Meet가 상하이 미국학, Puxi에서 열렸습니다. 불행히도 NIS 방학기간이라 많은 선수들이 참여하진 못했지만Silver, Bronze와 훈련반 선수 9 명이 학교를 대표해서 부모님들과 함께 참가하였습니다. 매우 재미있는 경기였고, 모두가 즐거워했습니다 – 학부모님들을 포함해서요. 그날 경기에서는 우승자도 있었을 뿐 아니라, 교내 신기록도 나왔습니다. 동일 연령 계주 경기에서 Cedric, Yannik, Mariette, Francesca가 5위를 차지했고; Emily, Aubrey, Summer Rose와 India가 9-10세 여학생 계주에서 3위를 차지했습니다; India, Mariette, Matilda는 적어도 1개 이상의 그들의 경기에서 6위 이상을 차지했고, 동년배 종합 10위 안에 들었습니다. 9명의 모든 선수들은 우리 모두가 그랬듯이 본인들도 매우 자신들을 자랑스럽게 생각할 것입니다!!

*매주 금요일, 교실로의 배달 주문이 가능합니다.입학처로 가는 복도 입구의 주문서를 작성하시어, 목요일 오전 10시까지 수납창구에 수납하시면, 금요일에 학생에게 직접 배달해 드립니다.

2. ACAMIS HOSTS NEEDED Danny Clarke: 다음 주 4월 24-27일까지 6개의 학교에서 120명의 남학생과 여학생들이 NIS에 와서 ACAMIS Football 토너먼트에 참여합니다. 100명의 학생들을 위한 홈스테이 가정을 확보했으나 아직도 부족하여 도와 주실 분이 필요합니다. 도와 주실 분은 Danny Clarke님에게 연락바랍니다.
3. Pfrang Gala Dinner Jenny McLellan: 5월 17일 토요일 저녁 만찬. 티켓은 Sandra Fuchs (Community and Service Coordinator)님이나 Jenny McLellan님에게서 구입가능합니다.
4. Nanjing Football World Cup: PTA 에서는 올해에도 China Team을 후원할 예정입니다. 5. DP Exam Lunch days: PTA에서는 G 11과 G 12을 위해서 각각 한차례 점심을 준비하는 날 음료수를 제공할 예정입니다. DP 학부모님들께 점심 준비를 위한 이메일을 보낼 예정입니다. 도움 주실 분들은 Alicia Quiros님에게 연락바랍니다.

Pfrang Gala!!On Saturday May 17th 2014 from 7p.m. the Pfrang Association will be hosting the 14th Annual Pfrang Gala at Nanjing International School. This event is one of the highlights of the expatriate social calendar in Nanjing and attracts over 300 people for an evening of fun and fundraising. !!All the money raised on the night allows the Pfrang Association to provide scholarships to cover the 6 year High School education of needy students in rural Jiangsu and Anhui provinces. Since its founding 14 years ago the Pfrang Association has provided more than 700 students the!opportunity to go to school. The Gala plays a vital role in allowing us to provide the lifelong gift of education to children who would other wise be denied the educational opportunities so many of us take for granted.!!It will be an amazing night for the community to come together to eat great food, dance to great live music and support a great cause. !!Thanks to our sponsors there are some incredible raffle prizes available including an iPhone donated by China Mobile and a return flight to Hong Kong donated by Dragon Air.
