Susanna Mora – Rock to Reef Slide Show
The meeting for April 23 was to be Susi’s slide show of her Rock to Reef trip. It was an interesting insight into her view of Australia, with many interesting sights and lots of pictures of her travelling companions, new lifelong friends.
It took quite a while to get the slide show up and running. First it was host Dad Paul, trying to get us on with the show, and then the host Mum Meredith put in two bob’s worth, and finally a tech savvy young man comes to the rescue, “Good on ya” Harry. Guess who has already been nominated as the Webmaster for the club.
Rock to Reef is one of the Projects of Youth Exchange. A three week trip through central Australia and the across to the Barrier Reef, and finally home through Sydney. A great experience for the exchangees ans they probably see mnore of Australia then we have seen.

Loyal Toast Howard’s loyal toast this week was The Rotary Club of Ankara, which was chartered on 23 March 1955 in District 2430 as the first club in Turkey. It remains the only bilingual club in Turkey where both Turkish and English are used during regular meetings. The Club meets at the Hilton Oteli. Charter meeting Rotary District map of Turkey
Winners are Grinners Firstly, we needed to have last week’s cut the Cards, which unfortunately Oliver drew the Jack of Clubs. Graham was the lucky one to win the President’s Muscat, such good luck as the weather is starting to get a little nippy now. Next to Cut the Cards for this week was Alan Wilson, but he didn’t win the 3 pack of PMT as he drew the Ace of Hearts.
Attendance- We had an attendance of 84.62% this week. It seemed to be a night for being a bit on the romantic side, with some of the guests liking the idea of a bit of a cuddle up. Honorary members Janet & Robert were with us, and Norm was accompanying Maureen. Harry was with us as well, but I thought, as Susi was the only eligible young lady and guest speaker; I shouldn’t put them in a compromising position.
Rib Ticklers-
There is a factory in Essex which makes the Tickle Me Elmo toys. The toy laughs when you tickle it under the arms. Well, Shelley is hired at The Tickle Me Elmo factory and she reports for her first day promptly at 8:00 am. The next day at 8:45 am there is a knock at the Personnel Manager's door. The Foreman throws open the door and begins to rant about the new employee. He complains that she is incredibly slow and the whole line is backing up, putting the entire production line behind schedule The Personnel Manager decides he should see this for himself, so the 2 men march down to the factory floor. When they get there the line is so backed up that there are Tickle Me Elmo's all over the factory floor and they're really beginning to pile up. At the end of the line stands Shelley surrounded by mountains of Tickle Me Elmo's. She has a roll of plush Red fabric and a huge bag of small marbles. The 2 men watch in amazement as she cuts a little piece of fabric, wraps it around two marbles and begins to carefully sew the little package between Elmo's legs. The Personnel Manager bursts into laughter. After several minutes of hysterics he pulls himself together and approaches Shelley. 'I'm sorry,' he says to her, barely able to keep a straight face, 'but I think you misunderstood the instructions I gave you yesterday...' 'Your job is to give Elmo two test tickles.
