Advent Prayers, Sunday December 9, 2012

See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me, and

the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple. Themessenger of the covenant in whom you delightindeed, he iscoming, says the LORD of hosts. 2But who can endure the day of hiscoming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like arefiners fire and like fullers soap; 3he will sit as a refiner andpurifier of silver, and he will purify the descendants of Levi andrefine them like gold and silver, until they present offerings to theLORD in righteousness. 4Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalemwill be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in formeryears.

ADVENT CONSPIRACY,2012 We all want ourChristmas to be a lot of things. Full of joy.Memories. Happiness. Above all, we want itto be about Jesus. We dont want stress, ordebt, or feeling like we missed the moment.Advent Conspiracy is a movement designed

to help us slow down and experience a Christmas worthremembering. But doing this means doing things a little differently.

A little creatively.ADVENT ACTIVITY Cut out the Christmas Pledge on the front of thebulletin and post it somewhere you can see it every day. On thefridge, maybe? Then, sit down with your calendar and make a list ofall of your planned activities for the next four weeks. Mark the onesthat are spiritual in nature, that help you remember the true reasonfor the season. Do you need to add more spiritually focused activities?Do you need to eliminate some of the other, stress-inducing andconsumer-focused activities? Make those adjustments to yourcalendar now, and remember the true reason we celebrate Advent.
