This week we are going to be continuing the Harry Potter theme…

Monday:

Read ‘Night Bus Extract’ from the Prisoner of Azkaban. Think about or, if possible, talk to somebody about the following: How do you think Harry is feeling through these different events? Write some of his feelings on the text.Watch the clip of this scene from the film version. What do you think about the way that the film has shown this scene? Is there anything that you think they have missed out? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FArmRa092H0 . Write up what is the same and what is different between the film and book version.

Tuesday:

Using the document ‘Simple, Progressive and Perfect Past Verb Forms’, recap the definition the different verb tenses and them complete the activity.

Wednesday:

Today we are going to be reading and answering questions about another Harry Potter text. Open the document ‘Order of the Phoenix extract comprehension’ read the extracts and answer the questions. Remember to read the question carefully and go back to the text for evidence before giving your answers.

Thursday and Friday:

Look at the picture to the right carefully. Think about the following: What is it? How did it get there? What is at the end? Who put it there? Imagine you went out for a walk and found this. What would you think or do? Plan, write, edit and second draft a story about the tunnel.

Spellings:

This week we are looking at unstressed vowels in polysyllabic words.

You must learn these words during the week and have test on them next Monday. You must make sure you understand what they mean. To help you learn them you could: rainbow write, pyramid write, play hangman, write in silly sentences or correctly write down two of the words as many times as you can in one minute. Good luck!

Guided reading:

Read the ninth and tenth chapter of Fireweed. Remember to discuss the story with someone if you can, and look up any words that are unfamiliar or new.
