CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION Holy God, we confess that we have not lived for your glory. We follow the crowds around you, but fail to grasp the good news you offer. We weep at the power of death, but laugh at your promise of new life. Forgive us, God of grace. Let not doubt and despair overpower faith. Give us the gift of faith by which you make us whole; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON Now stand firm in your faith,
covered by the saving grace of God. and ready to proclaim the gospel of peace.
Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel.
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
PASSING THE PEACE …The peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.
GLORIA O Saints, in Splendour Sing WORDS: Sylvia Dunstan; Tune: ST.THOMAS [from In Search of Hope and Grace, Sylvia G. Dunstan]
O worthy is the Lamb! The Lamb that once was slain!
Of honor, glory, thanks and praise, Lift up the glad refrain!
PROCLAIMING THE WORD
A PRAYER FOR THOSE WHO GOVERN
ALL SINGING: America the Beautiful from Glory to God Hymnal #338, verse 1
O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!
…Every resource, freedom, and opportunity we have is a good gift from you. Without you, we are lost.
In humility, we seek your face. In repentance, we turn from our ungrateful, destructive and selfish ways. In faith, we call on your power to forgive our sin and heal our land.
ALL SINGING: America the Beautiful from Glory to God Hymnal #338, verse 2
O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved, and mercy more than life.
America! America! God mend thine every flaw;
confirm thy soul in self-control, thy liberty in law.
… Shower down your Spirit of collaboration for the common good that there may be lasting peace and plenty for all.
ALL SINGING: America the Beautiful from Glory to God Hymnal #338, verse 3
O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness, and every gain divine.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Adapted from the Confession of 1967, 9.32-33]
The life, death, resurrection, and promised coming of Jesus Christ has set the pattern for the church’s mission. His human life involves the community of faith in the common life of all people. His service to men and women commits the church to work for every form of human well-being. His suffering makes the church sensitive to all human suffering so that it sees the face of Christ in the faces of persons in every kind of need. His crucifixion discloses to the church God’s judgment on the inhumanity that marks human relations, and the awful consequences of the church’s own complicity in injustice. In the power of the risen Christ and the hope of his coming, the church sees the promise of God’s renewal of human life in society and of God’s victory over all wrong. The church follows this pattern in the form of its life and in the method of its action. So to live and serve is to confess Christ as Lord.

Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow OLD HUNDREDTH
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
PRAYER OF DEDICATION Merciful God, from whose open hand we have all received so much, accept our offering this day. In your love, remember those who have brought it. Remember also those persons and purposes from which it is given. Follow this sacrifice with your blessing that it may promote peace and good will, and advance the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray; Amen.
SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
Christ seeks a relationship with everyone. All are invited to share in this communion. Please hold the elements until everyone has been served, so we may partake together.
Gluten/allergen free elements are available in the center of the plate.
THE INVITATION GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
The Lord be with you.
And also with you. Open your hearts to God.
We open our hearts to the God of healing and joy. Lift your songs to God.
We offer glad songs to the One who brings us wholeness. Hear our voices as we sing our joy to you, God of the listening Heart.
You reached out and touched chaos with your imaginative Spirit, proclaiming goodness and wholeness as Creation burst forth. …But grasping the hem of sin, we chose to be dragged through the mud of despair and death.
Your steadfast love would not forsake us, singing to us in the prophets' voices. …So we lift our voices in praise, joining with those in heaven and earth, who forever praise your name:
Holy, holy, holy are you, God who hears our voices. More than those who watch for morning, all creation waits for you. Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is the One who comes with healing grace. Hosanna in the highest! Holy are you, Listener to our deepest longings, and blessed is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He emptied himself of Glory's riches,
so we could be filled with grace and hope; he endured our suffering,
so we could be healed; he was broken,
so we could be made whole; he died,
so we would live with you forever.
As we remember his life for us as we seek to grasp the hem of your grace, we tell of that mystery we call faith:
Christ died, so we might be made well and live; Christ was raised, death overcome with amazement by the resurrection; Christ will return, calling to us, ‘children, get up!’ …Mend our broken hearts,
so we may love all your children; touch our wounded souls,
so we may embrace all those cast out by the world; fill us with your gracious gifts,
so we may overflow in generosity to those in need.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE and THE LORD’S PRAYER
…Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
THE LORD’S PRAYER …God in Community, Holy in One, hear us as we pray together, saying,
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For Thine is the kingdom and the power And the glory forever. Amen.
