Principal’sWelcome
A warm welcome to our new Business and Professional Development Prospectus for the 2011/12 academic year. I hope you will find it a helpful source of information regarding the learning opportunities and services we provide for adults and for local businesses. These include, day long courses, part-time programmes and flexible learning arrangements covering many subjects and at all levels from introductory studies to degrees and post graduate qualifications.
Coleg Powys: Vocational Expertise, Funding Expertise and Educational Expertise. We are extremely eager to meet the needs of businesses and professionals throughout Powys. As a very established college, we bring a great deal of expertise to the table: vocational expertise, educational expertise and expertise in government funding for training. By combining this knowledge we can meet your business training needs by providing training that is relevant, of the highest quality and inexpensive.
Be a Leader, Stay a Leader. This is particularly important in the current climate. We know that businesses are currently suffering because of the recession and that one of the first things to be compromised or cut is training. Yet, at the same time, we are also clear that training and constant development is what gives all businesses and individuals their competitive edge. With this in mind, we design our courses to meet your unique needs, whether you are a business with a multi million pound turnover or someone who is unemployed and would like to access React Funding in order to retrain. We are here to service your needs regardless of the size, range or scope of those needs.
Opportunities for EveryoneColeg Powys serves the whole community of Powys and each of our centres offers a warm and friendly welcome to all. Our aim is to foster an informal but purposeful atmosphere in which you or your employees will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence that will enable you – or them - to achieve a range of goals. We are particularly aware of our responsibility to the local skills economy as this is the backbone of all business and economic activity. We would thus very much welcome an enquiry from you, no matter how large or small. Our staff and other resources are there to support all learners and our Student Services Officers provide information and guidance on access to careers information, financial assistance, accommodation, transport and other support services.
Customer Conscious Flexible DeliveryWe know that adult learners frequently have to balance multiple demands upon their time. Employment patterns vary considerably as do family and care responsibilities. For this reason, staff in the College will do their very best to arrange a pattern of study that is suitable for you. All registered students have access to the College’s IT networks and many learners can do much of their work remotely by using email and accessing the College’s virtual learning environment, Moodle, via the internet where appropriate.
Talk to usIf you are interested in any of our programmes, you are welcome to make an application or, if you need more information or cannot find what you want within the prospectus or on the College website, please come and talk to us or contact us by telephone or email. Our Staff on any site will provide you with the highest quality help and assistance. If you do decide to apply to us, you will be joining a college that is committed to excellence in vocational, professional and community education.
A One Stop Shop for Businesses. In order to ensure that employers receive a prompt and helpful response to all training enquiries, we have established a ‘One-Stop-Shop’ within our Business Development Unit. This new service ensures your training enquiry is dealt with immediately. Additionally, our Training Advisors are happy to visit your organisation, wherever it might be, in order to discuss your specific training needs. For further information on this new service please contact 0845 4086 441.
We look forward to working with you…
