Projex Consultancy is a company formed in partnership with the prestigious and established law firm of Mohammad Ahmad Al Zaabi Advocates and Legal Consultants which was founded in and has a rich history of dispute resolution and client satisfaction.

The aim of Projex Consultancy is to provide the client with a truly complete service. Our team of legal experts provides the client with a thorough understanding of the legal system here in the United Arab Emirates and ensures that those rights are preserved and presented in the most advantageous manner given the client’s circumstances. This legal knowledge when combined with the contractual and technical expertise provided by our western qualified lawyers, engineers, planners and quantity surveyors provides a unique solution that is not readily available in the market.

Projex Consultancy has successfully helped major contractors and subcontractors in the oil and gas, marine, civil and mep sectors deliver projects in a cost effective commercial manner and has where required, presented and defended their legal and contractual rights leading to the award of damages, extension of time claims and the avoidance of delay penalties being applied.

The ManagementImad joined Mohammad Ahmad al Zaabi Advocates & Legal Consultants in 2008 and acquired a wide knowl-edge and expertise in corporate, commercial, and litigation matters. In addition to his role as Legal Consul-tant, Imad acts as the firm’s office manager.Prior to joining Mohammad Ahmad al Zaabi Advocates & Legal Consultants, Imad practiced law for 4 years at a reputable Lebanese Law Firm where he was involved in issues related to corporate law, commercial law, criminal law and dispute resolution.

Imad now specializes in the preparation and resolution of construction claims in both the local courts and via arbitration. Imad has successfully defended the rights of several large contracting companies having secured awards for both extension of times and additional costs claims in both the courts and in arbitration cases.

Mohammad Al Zaabi founded the “Mohammad Ahmad al Zaabi Advocates & Legal Consultants” “MAZ” firm in Abu Dhabi in 2001.In addition to his role as the founding partner of the firm in Abu Dhabi, Mohammad also acted as the Direc-tor of International Relations at the Ministry of Labor in Abu Dhabi between 2004 and 2006, following this role he was appointed as Director of Labor Relations (Disputes Department) at the Ministry of Labor between 2006 and 2009. Mohammed represented the Ministry of Labor in several regional and international labor related conferences, including the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Geneva.

Mohammad participated in the drafting of several laws, including the Labor Law and its Executive Regula-tions, the Camel Racing Law and the Human Trafficking Law.

More recently since the founding of MAZ, Mohammad has specialized in the resolution of construction relat-ed disputes both in the local Abu Dhabi courts and those in the neighboring emirate of Dubai.

Owain is the General Manager of Projex and has been based in the UAE since 2008. Bringing a technical and legal background to Projex, Owain is a UK qualified Solicitor and part qualified Architect having studied Architectural Studies at the prestigious Welsh School of Architecture. In his previous roles Owain has worked as a private practice solicitor working on behalf of government, private companies and individuals with a specialism in professional negligence cases and for blue chip international Engineering Consultan-cies, working with their large head office company secretariat teams (both are Publicly Limited Companies), treasury, accounts and finance, legal together with their operational business to deliver some of the most prestigious projects designed and constructed in the GCC. In addition to working for consultants, Owain has also worked with one of the GCC’s biggest contracting companies together with its subsidiaries who provided expertise in EPC, Oil and Gas, MEP, Steel, Concrete, Pre-cast, Ready Mix and utilities. Owain’s experience provides a thorough understanding of the construction process and the key consider-ations when a client is negotiating a contract, executing the construction works, defending or pursuing a claim either via arbitration or in the local courts.
