Where did they grow up and in what circumstances?

Born 3 March 1839 Jamshedji Tata was born to Nusserwanji

and Jeevanbai Tata on 3 March 1839 in Navsari, a small town in South Gujarat.

Nusserwanji Tata was the first businessman

in a family of Parsi Zoroastrian priests. He moved to Bombay and started trading.

Where was their schooling done? and for how long?

Jamshedji joined him in Bombay at the age of 14 and enrolled at the Elphinstone

College. He graduated from college in 1858 and joined his

father's trading firm.

What are they like as a person? (Describe their Personality, Leadership & Management qualities)

He was also a nationalist Though India remained under British rule

while he was alive, he interacted with activists such as Dadabhai Naoroji and Pherozeshah Mehta.

he always maintained that political freedom must be accompanied by economic self sufficiency

Not only did he manage to create thousands of jobs, he paved the way for many future enterprises.

What have they accomplished?

In 1868, he started a trading company with a seed capital of Rs. 21,000

In 1869, he acquired a bankrupt oil mill in Chinchpokli

Thereafter he set up a cotton mill in Nagpur in 1874 setting up an iron and steel company a world class learning institution and a hydro

electric plant The company started by Jamsetji Tata came to

be known as the Tata Group and is today among the largest and most respected companies of India.

Why he was best-

considered to be the path-finder of modern industrial builders.

He is known as the grand father of Indian Industry.

Jamshedji Tata was the main person behind the idea to start an Iron and steel Factory. But his dreams was fulfilled by his sons, when they started the Tata Iron and Steel Factory in 1907 first three years after his death.

Jamsetji, was however, known for much more than just starting a company. He was a pioneer in his field and thought way ahead of his times.

SUMMARY:-

Jamsetji was fired by a fierce sense of nationalism, a passion to advance the economic status of India. Economists say that all entrepreneurs must have some amount of greed and optimism. If that be so, Jamsetji must have had his fair share. The difference, of course, lay in what he did with the fruits of his entrepreneurship: he displayed a rare compassion for the less privileged and he helped build institutions for his people and his country. A few of these came into existence in his lifetime, but there were other, more important ones that found sustenance thanks to his unique legacy
