Set your air conditioner thermostat up 5 degrees and use fans. Air conditioners can cost $3 to $4 a day to operate. A fan operates at just $.20 a day. Unplug unnecessary electric appliances and equipment. Even if an appliance isn’t running, it still uses electricity. Clean or replace filters regularly. Clean, free flowing air is necessary for efficient operation. Close your shades during the hottest times of the day to block the sun’s rays from entering and heating up your home.
