The American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE) Lafayette

Chapter will hold its next General Meeting at 11:30 a.m.Monday, May 18, 2015, at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette.

Mark E. Barton, PE, operations engineer with BrammerEngineering, Inc., will discuss "Well Operation Perils" at the finalAADE Lafayette Chapter General Meeting of the 2014‐2015session. Mark Barton was raised in Lafayette and is aproud graduate of Acadiana High School. Hegraduated from LSU with a bachelor's degreein petroleum engineering in December 1983.

In 1988, Barton began working for BrammerEngineering, Inc., in Lafayette. He became aprofessional engineer in Louisiana in 1992.Barton left Brammer from 2000‐2004 but hasnow been with them a total of 23 yearshandling South Louisiana and Texas operationson land and inland waters.

Barton is a current board member with the Lafayette EducationFoundation and API Acadiana Chapter. He is also active withLAGCOE.

Scholarship Sporting ClaysTournament a Success

The AADE Lafayette Chapter held its 22nd Annual ScholarshipSporting Clays Tournament at GOL Shooting Facility in Maurice.Proceeds from the tournament provide petroleum industry‐related scholarships at LSU, ULL and Nichols State University.

Hundreds of participants, sponsors and volunteers headed to theMaurice facility March 26 and 27 to participate in the two‐dayevent. In spite of the downturn in the oil and gas industry, theevent was well attended.

John Dribus Gave an Information‐packedPresentation at the April AADE Luncheon

John Dribus, global geosciences advisor for Schlumberger OilField Services, presented on potential drilling hazards in deepwater at the AADE Lafayette Chapter General Meeting thismonth. Since the Macondo incident occurred in the Gulf ofMexico, the oil and gas industry has been diligent in addressingvarious drilling hazards that may be encountered in deep water.Dribus provided an information‐packed overview on saltformations and potential drilling hazards.
