BVC is proud to present results from the Balnarring Community Survey of 2013. The results reflect our community’s values, and indicate what they would like to see more of, with particular reference to the four vacant blocks between the hall and the motel. The following graphs show results from the “check boxes” section of the survey. Detailed responses were encouraged in a comment section, where a number of broad points were raised: • Balnarring residents treasure their community and village. • There is immense support for a central space to facilitate community engagement across all age groups. • The Survey identifies the need for a multi-‐purpose “Community House” structure. • There is overwhelming resistance to commercial development of the four blocks in question. • Residents value the open space and natural environment, and wish to preserve—while also developing—both. • The majority of residents, across all ages, hold deep environmental and sustainable living principles. • There is a huge need for aged-‐care accommodation within the village, although residents do not wish to see the blocks in question used for this purpose. The BVC would like to thank all individuals who contributed in terms of developing, printing, posting, distributing, collecting, responding to, filling in, and collating, also manning our stand. This was a huge undertaking, and every single person’s contribution was immensely valued.
