Cutting

From Muse-C5791 Natural:Note: This is a border print, so cut the pieces measuring in from each of the selvage edges.

• Cut thirteen 61/2" x WOF (width-of-fabric) strips. Sub-cut eight 61/2" x 201/2"" A Rectangles (AR), ten 61/2" x 181/2" B Rectangles (BR), four 61/2" x 121/2" C Rectangles (CR) and four 61/2" squares.

From Zephyr-C5702 Green:• Cut five 37/8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut forty-four

37/8" squares.• Cut three 11/2" x WOF strips. Sew the strips

together end to end using diagonal seams and cut two 11/2" x 501/2"" strips.

• Cut four 11/2" x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end using diagonal seams and cut two 11/2" x 681/2" strips.

From Venice-C5600 Forest:• Cut five 37/8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut forty-four

37/8" squares.

From both Muse-C5792 Purple and Zephyr-C5702 Sun: • See instructions to cut petals from Template A.

From both Zephyr-C5702 Fuchsia and Venice-C5600 Sun:

• See instructions to cut petals from Template B.

From Venice-C5600 Charcoal:• See instructions to cut circles from Template C.

From Muse-C5796 Natural:• Cut three 21/2" x WOF strips. Sew the strips

together end to end using diagonal seams and cut two 21/2" x 541/2" strips.

• Cut four 21/2" x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end using diagonal seams and cut two 21/2" x 70 1/2" strips.

• Cut seven 21/4" x WOF strips for binding.

Preparation1. Trace Templates A, B and C onto the template

plastic and cut out. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, trace eighty-eight of Template A, eighty-eight of Template B and twenty-two of Template C on the paper side of the fusible web, noting the direction the petals face to correspond with the quilt. Rough-cut each template about 1/8" outside the drawn lines.

2. Fuse forty-four Template A shapes to both the Muse-C5792 Purple and Zephyr-C5702 Sun fabric wrong side. Cut out each shape along the drawn line.

3. Fuse forty-four Template B shapes to both the Zephyr-C5702 Fuchsia and Venice- C5702 Sun fabric wrong side. Cut out each shape along the drawn line.

4. Fuse twenty-two Template C shapes to the Venice-C5600 Charcoal fabric wrong side. Cut out each shape along the drawn line.

Block ConstructionAll seam allowances are 1/4" and pieces are sewn right sides together.

5. To make Unit 1, place one 37/8" C5702 Green square right sides together on top of one 37/8" C5600 Forest square. Draw a diagonal line across the top square. Sew 1/4" away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (figure 1). Cut the two squares apart on the

Trim to 31/2".

drawn line to make two half-square triangles (HST) (figure 2). Press the seams toward the darker fabric and trim the blocks to measure 31/2" square (figure 3). Repeat to make eighty- eight Unit 1 blocks (figure 4).

6. To make Unit 2, sew two Unit 1 blocks together as shown (figure 5). Repeat to make forty-four Unit 2. Sew two pairs of Unit 2 together as shown to make a block background (figure 6). Make a total of twenty-two block backgrounds.

7. Referring to Figure 7, fuse four C5792 Purple A petals onto a block background. Appliqué the petal edges with a zigzag or buttonhole stitch. Fuse four C5702 Fuchsia B petals onto the block and appliqué. Fuse a C5600 Charcoal C circle onto the center and appliqué to make Block One. Make a total of eleven of Block One.

8. Repeat step 8, using four C5702 Sun A petals, four C5600 Sun B petals and a C5600 Charcoal C circle. Make a total of eleven of Block Two (figure 8).

Quilt Top Assembly9. Following Figure 9, assemble the following units:

Unit 1: Square, Block 2, AR, Block 1.

Units 2, 7, 8 and 11: Block 1, BR, Block 1, BR

Unit 3: BR, CR, Block 2

Units 4, 6, 9 and 13: AR, Block 2, AR, Block 2

Units 5 and 12: Block 1, Square, CR

Unit 10: Block 2, Square, CR.

10. Sew the units together in the alphabetical order shown, using partial seams where indicated. To sew a partial seam (figures 10-12), sew the seam normally but stop 2" before the intersection and backstitch. Press. Proceed to the next unit to be attached and sew as indicated. Press. Return and complete the partial seam. Press.

11. Following the Quilt Assembly Diagram, sew one 11/2" x 681/2" C5702 Green strip to each side of the quilt top center. Sew one 11/2" x 501/2" C5702 Green strip to the top and the other to the bottom of quilt center.

12. Sew one 2" x 701/2" C5796 Natural strip to each side of the quilt top center. Sew one 2" x 541/2" C5796 Natural strip to the top and the other to the bottom of the quilt top center.

Finishing13. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing, and quilt

as desired.

14. Stitch the binding strips together end to end using diagonal seams. Fold and press the resulting long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. Stitch to the quilt front, matching raw edges and mitering the corners.

15. Fold the binding to the quilt underside and hand-stitch the folded edge to the quilt back.
