The Facts
To clone something is to make a copy of it. Whether it be plant or animal, the clones are never as healthy and have shorter life spans then the original animals. Animals are cloned because farmers want copies of their best animals, but most clones die during pregnancy, birth, or from disease at an early age.

Our first impressions:Our first impressions were:- Animals should only be cloned for research
so the clones don’t suffer- Eating cloned foods might not be good for
human healthCloned foods aren’t marked in the storesThe cloned animals aren’t the same as normal animals, even if their DNA is the same
![Page 4: By: Anna C, Maddy L, Anna T, and Katherine M](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062811/56815ef0550346895dcdb056/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
We think:Cloning for food is wrong; cloning for the sole purpose of research is fine under certain conditions, such as: The clones should not be treated badly In fact, they should be treated like normal
animalsDo not kill the clones once they become
old or the research is done

Positive and Negative Consequences of prohibiting cloning
Positive:Negative:
There will be no more suffering/ inhumane treatment of cloned animals
The meats we eat will be guaranteed natural and healthy
We are preventing the risk that diseased animals be cloned
Cloning might be done illegally (unlikely but possible)
Un-marked cloned foods in grocery stores would remain unmarked in the stores until sold
We would never have a chance to figure out if cloning could be healthy one day.

Religious/ Legal Issues: It is illegal to clone animals in some places such as the US, Canada, and Australia. The UN and many other countries wanted to globally ban cloning, but the UK voted against itThe Church is against cloning because it goes against some morals in the Bible:No two things are the sameAll things are created equal

We want
This! Not this.

God is present because…
As we made our decision, we had to discern right from wrong. We had to decide if cloning was fair or not; morally right or not. God helped us to reach that decision by reminding us that living things should not suffer, nor be treated unequally.
