Well the holidays are behind us for this past year and now it’s time for us to look forward for the new shooting season. I truly hope nearly everyone had a great some great holidays, but for some of our members it wasn’t so great. We have lost a few members who will be greatly missed, may they rest in peace. We have a lot going on this season. We have people working on upgrading the software hoping it will help the match directors out sending in your information to HQ. All of us have been looking and working on different projects to help smooth things out and trying to get things back on track. There are some exciting products that are coming out and going to come out, but I haven’t seen them yet. Remington Arms has come out with a 700 bolt action pistol and Leigh Defense is supposed to come out with the SSK-50 contender frame. It was supposed to have come out in September 2019, then they said before the first of the year, then I was told by them the first of January. Now, I have not heard anything else, and I have two on order since I first heard about them in August 2019. Just maybe they will be out before the first of the match season. Not much more to rattle about, so everyone please attend as many matches as you can to help your local range survive. Shoot well, have a wonderful season, and I hope to see most of you at the Internationals. Bruce A. C. Barrett - President IHMSA NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2019 PRESIDENT’S REPORT By Bruce A. C. No new entries to report so I’ll recap the year.

The Standing 30+ Champion for the year is Jim Kesser (OH) with an excellent 34 and he did it twice. Jim was followed closely by Doug Edney (PA) with a single 34. Nice shooting gentlemen.

    REGION 2

    GEORGIA

Little River Gun ClubLincolnton, GARobert L. Walker9-27-2019

This was the final match of the season for Little River Gun Club. We would like to express our great appreciation to all who were able to show support during this past year. As any Match Director can tell you, it’s a labor of love; because there are no financial rewards. I would like to express special appreciation to the Norman Family for their continued support of IHMSA in Georgia and also to my three partners in crime, J. Melvin Calliham, Ken Hale and Stephen Kuehl; they have made this labor a lot lighter. We look forward to hosting you all again next year, and hopefully some additional shooters.During the two and a half days of this Open State

Championship, we ran 79 guns through the line; with a tremendous amount of help from our seasoned Target Setters…….Thank You.We appreciate the participation of everyone and when you get

to naming specific individuals, that’s where you normally get in trouble of possibly hurting someone’s feeling...... But, with that being said, I would be remiss not to mention the participation of Bruce and Stuart Barrett, driving all the way over from Alabama. Also, David Hamilton who drove down from Raleigh NC;. South Carolina was well represented by Larry Elrod, Dr. Marty Cato and Dr. Taylor Byrum.I will allow the scores to speak for the remainder of the match.

We look forward to seeing most of you next weekend for the final match of the season for Cherokee Gun Club – Gainesville GA and the following weekend for the final match and State BB & HS Championship at Black Creek Gun Club – Patrick SC.

    LOUISIANA

    Ascension SilhouetteGonzales, LACharlie Braud10-5-2019

The Louisiana silhouette season came to a close with the completion of our State Championship match this weekend. The two day event was somewhat lightly attended but a good time was had by those who shared the range with us. My nephew Clay Marix had a good match. He shot a 40X40 in UAS and then tried the Fifth Scale targets for the very first time and entered a very respectable score of 30X40. My brother Philip once again was the man to beat. He entered four guns and except for shootoffs never missed a single target. Kayla Bonner and Clay Marix challenged him in the UAS shootoff. Though they each put forth a good effort, Philip came out on top. Clay had never been in a shootoff before and the Fifth Scale chickens at 100 are no easy task. He did well and, though he did come up a little short, he did not come up empty. We continue to pray for our injured Region 2 Director Allen Gaskin who could not be with us for this match because of his injury at the Internationals. Get well soon, brother. Many thanks go to all who shot with us this year. Your continued support keeps us going. I will post our Louisiana 2020 season schedule as soon as I can finalize the dates.

Another Tres Banditos has passed. Congrats to Bill Urbank and Doug Edney who were on both winning teams and their 3rd teammates Doug Toman and Jim Kesser. Everyone looked like they had a great time! Jim Kesser had a 31 and a 32 for the best big bore standing agg. Doug Edney edged him out in US with a 33(if you don’t count re-entries) Greg Rhineheimer bested 4 other 40s in UAS with 8 shootoffs to win UAS Internation. There were lots of good scores for a shortened match. Hope to see you all next month.

We had an excellent turnout on a gorgeous fall day for the annual Rex Cup competition. Bob Doherty’s wife Kathy forbade him to win it again this year, so he complained loudly about his bad back, and shot only two guns. Fortunately, he recovered sufficiently to throw 55-pound rams around after the match. Thanks Bob.Since time and fortune have sadly diminished the number of

Missouri shooters we draw, it was suggested that the criteria for awarding the Rex Cup ought to be rethought. In the past, ties were settled by the match director on the basis of merit, so I decided to revisit this criterion. Upon examining the score sheet, I found no shortage of meritorious performances. David Glass fired a perfect 40 on Half Scale, for which I was privileged to spot. Dennis Powers got his first Big Bore 40. Bob Doherty, Chris Dunlap, Larry Jackson, and Fred Hornbaker all had 40 scores in various events. David Strydom had an excellent outing with a brand new gun in unlimited standing Big Bore, then provided much amusement by shooting standing with a Glock. But a match director has to keep his eagle eye on the bottom line, so the Rex Cup was awarded to David Strydom for his meritorious five-gun entry. Thanks to all, and see you next year.

Our September 1st match was ushered in with temperatures in the low 80’s & very little wind. Entries were down some as this was a holiday week-end, with a total of only 44. There were only (7) 40x40’s shot in this match; Jackie Brown (2) in UAS-Int. & UASHS, Scott Thompson (1) UASHS, Tim Ablay (1) UAS-SB & Charles Harbert (3) PH Short, Long & .22 SB, our PH classes have gotten really popular in the past couple of years. Great shooting Charles. Woody Liddell had the high score in ULTRA Scope 500 with a 36x40. Thanks to our target setters who, as usual, did a great job as well as those who helped in the stat house with our noon meal. See all the match results below. That’s

This match was short, but warm. It wasn’t the oven match we had last month. It was still warm/hot but you can sense cooler weather in the future. Turnout was low due to many shooters have other things on their agenda – hunts, weddings, birthdays, and aching backs. However, we did have a new/old shooter with us, Leslie Lebertew, with whom I have conversed over the past few months. He is getting back into the game and did his previous shooting in Washington State back in the 80-90s. Hopefully, he will come shoot with us as his work schedule allows.Congratulations to Rafael Chavez and Mike Turner on their 40s.

Condolences to those that came close (missed chicken/turkey). Tomorrow is another day. Next month (10/12-13) will be our last match of the year. I overheard Gerald and Lance talking about cooking chicken fajitas, and beans. So, if you want to bring side dishes they will get eaten. Also, Saturday afternoon will be the clubs’ Annual meeting at 1300. See you there, hopefully.

Our last match of the year was a small one. Only 20 guns went down the line. We had a couple no-shows due to medical issues and four others who had just returned from a hunting trip. However, we did have fun and had lunch after the match was over. Thanks to Gerald and Lance for providing/cooking sausages and fixins’. Also, thanks to Dave Chalfant for his side dishes. Good shooting to Michael Turner with the only 40 of the match.

Only 4 shooters today but we enjoyed each others company. Some are ill, taking care of loved ones who have had surgery, hunting and of course Christmas prep and travel. We could not see the targets against the berms due to the 4 inches of rain over the past few weeks. It turned the tan dirt to dark brown and we had to paint the animals white to see them. The rain had brought wind and our overhead covering got torn up over the middle of the firing line. Everyone shot at least 5 in a row of some animal. Mike got 10 in a row on chickens and Steve got 10 in a row on pigs. Merry Christmas to all and God bless your new year.

We put 15 entries across the line this month. Temperatures were hovering around 40 degrees when I arrived at the range. Another match for the wood stove. The temperatures rose to about 50 by the end of the match with rain off and on for most of the day. We had one new shooter this month. Joshua Stone was up from Centraila shooting the VisionX Toys for tots fund raiser match and saw the silhouette target on the rifle range. Joshua shoots Rifle and Cowboy rifle silhouettes so he came down to check it out and asked if there was anything he could shoot his 9mm in so he put an entry in for field pistol. Always glad to get a new shooter. On to the results of the match. No 40’s shot this month. I posted an U-Int, 38 followed Steve Bishop posting a U-AAA, 29. I posted a R-Int, 31. Joe Stumpf posted a R-AA, 20. Ron Craig posted a P-A, 28 giving him his second leg and moving him into AA. Steve Bishop posted a R-AAA, 23. In small bore Steve Bishop a UAS-AA, 19. Alec Patajo posted a US-UNC, 10 shooting Joe’s Rugers with a dot sight. In Field Pistol Joe Stumpf posted a PAS-AA, 9 and our new shooter Joshua Stone posted a P-UNC, 13 using his CZ. 75 IPSA right with fixed sights. Our target setter did a fantastic job again this month. Thanks to all who came out to shoot the match and also to those who stayed to help pick up targets after the match. 2019 IHMSA South Central Championships October 4th, 5th & 6th

(By Jim Fields, Match Director) Oklahoma City Gun Club

This time a year in Oklahoma the weather has cooled down to a level that is comfortable to almost everyone, however the first day of the match was a little on the warm side with temperatures in the low to mid 80’s. Winds were not bad at all the entire 3 days. Anyone who didn’t attend this match missed out on a great three days of shooting steel. Overall, the weather was fantastic!! We had a total of 209 entries over the three days & our target painters did a great job of allowing the match to run smoothly the entire three days. Thanks guys & gals, you did a great job, the 4-wheelers are a real asset to our club & speed up the match tremendously. As always, we shot in AR-15 match prior to our 3-day regional match We now have auto-reset on the small-bore targets in addition to the big bore, 500 range & FP range which have worked very well since we installed them over the past seven years . This is 18 years in a row that the Oklahoma City Gun Club has hosted the Region IV match, being centrally located in our six-state region makes for reasonable driving distances for most of the region IV shooters. As I'm sure you have noticed on the t-shirts as well as the plaques we now call this match the IHMSA South Central Championships. This has always been a sixty-round match. Most shooters liked the name change. More entries the better. I stayed at the range all three days & enjoyed talking to all the folks after each day’s shooting that had brought their RV’s; we had a great time, believe me. Our cook-out Saturday evening was followed by a 40-round AIR match in our weather controlled clubhouse which lasted until about 9 pm. Everyone had a great time at both events, & some good scores were posted. We had one of our junior shooters win the UAS shoot-off with a score of 40x40+4, congratulations to Zane Payton, that was fantastic shooting Zane. He just turned 12 years old. Also, his older brother, Ivan, won AAA Unlimited, our hats are off to both of these young region IV shooters. There was a total of 50, yes 50 perfect scores shot in this match, four in AIR; three in BB UAS, four in half-scale, one in UHS, thirteen in UAS-SB, eight in U-SB, four in 1/5 scale SB, seven in PH SB, two in PH long, three in PH short, one in the ULTRA-500 scope. Believe it or not, no 60x60’s were shot in the production & revolver classes in either SB or BB, WOW, that was a bit unusual. In the BB lever action RIFLE long range category, Warren Alkire won that one & also the small-bore rifle category, congrats Warren. John Richards, his two sons A. J. & Jared, all from the great state of Minnesota attended this match along with Steve Martens. We appreciate all of our out-of-state shooters. I’d like to thank everyone who helped me with this match, especially my co-match director, Jim Meyers, without Jim I'd be in deep trouble. Additionally Jan Meyers & Debbie Tessman who helped with our noon meals & of course our target painters who also did a great job. Jan is now our official score entering expert.

Approximately 14,000 rounds were fired at this match, the bullet & powder manufacturers must love us, WOW!! That’s a lot of lead downrange, a lot of that was Sierra bullets. Thanks also to the companies who donated the door prizes which included Shilen barrels, Burris, Natchez, Starline & Sierra.

You are always welcome to the Oklahoma City Gun Club, we have plenty of RV hook-ups for those who want to spend the week-end at the range, we shoot the first Sunday of each month, March thru November, ULTRA 500,smallbore, big bore, ½ scale, PH & AIR.

We again are hosting the 2020 IHMSA World Championship July 17th thru the 25th, mark that on your calendar for sure. Our web address is www.okcgunclub.org where you can check our event calendar for all dates as well as IHMSA scores under Division Listings.

That's it for now, shoot straight, shoot safe & I hope to see you at the next match.
