Clothes:

• Most people prefer lighter weight, casual clothing

• To them clean is important

• Women of all ages wear slacks, jeans, short skirts, blouses, and canvas shoes, or sandals.

• Dresses are only worn for special events.

• Men wear long pants, jeans, and t-shirts in everyday situations.

• More formally they may wear a “guayabera” a style of square cut shirt.

• Primary and secondary schools student wear uniforms as do the students of a medical collage.

Greetings:

• Men greet with “que tal?”

• Which means how are you doing?

• Men often shake hands when entering a home or greeting group of people.

• Most women kiss each other on the cheek once and off a verbal greeting.

Government structure

• Cuba is a socialist state, and its constitution regards the communist party as the leading force.

• Cuba has 14 provinces and 1 special municipality(isle of youth)

• The legislative authority is vested in the national assembly of power.

• Special communities nominate approved candidates to run for the assembly, which has 614 seats.

• Executive authority is vested in the council of national ministers whose members are appointed by the national assembly upon the proposal of the chief of state.

• Municipal and provincial assemblies deal with local affairs.

• The voting age in Cuba is only 16 as in America it is 18.

• They are ruled under a director named Fidel Castro.

• He is the communist leader of Cuba.

• The U.S. has banned importing goods such as cars into Cuba.

• Cars are not the only thing that is no longer able to be imported into there.

• The ban started during the cold war when Cuba agreed to store missiles for the Soviet Union.

• Industries that Cuba is in are sugar, petroleum, tobacco, construction, nickel, steel, cement, and agricultural machinery, pharmaceuticals.

• Agricultural products are sugar, tobacco, citrus, coffee, rice, potatoes, beans; livestock.

• The currency for Cuba is the Cuban Peso (CUP)

• Cuba has a very poor economy

• The U.S. no longer does trade with Cuba.

Geography Cuba’s climate is tropical like Florida. Sometimes it can get up to the upper nineties. The humidity makes it feel like a hundred degrees. Cuba’s mean temperature is  77F (25ºC)  In the coldest months it is about 70 to 80 degrees. It has a tropical climate because it is completely

surrounded by water. Cuba is relatively flat and has lots of trees and

coastline. The national boundaries of Cuba are the Gulf of

Mexico, North Atlantic, and the Caribbean Sea.

There are no national parks in Cuba. Most of Cuba is inhabited. Cuba has a wide verity of sea life. There are giant sea turtles, Cuban

saltwater crocodiles, flamingos, and many others birds.

The ocean is a huge part of Cuba.
