Thesis: Making and using compost is a long-term and worthwhile investment to your garden because it contains almost all the nutrients needed for plants to grow and thrive. And composting doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated!
![Page 8: By Dawn Trippie. Wizard Radagast from The Hobbit](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062407/56649eaa5503460f94bae9e1/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Step 1: Begin by deciding what size pile you want.
![Page 9: By Dawn Trippie. Wizard Radagast from The Hobbit](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062407/56649eaa5503460f94bae9e1/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Step 2: Once you know the size, you are ready to purchase/make a compost
container.

Step 3: Now you are ready to start creating your compost pile by stockpiling ingredients.
![Page 11: By Dawn Trippie. Wizard Radagast from The Hobbit](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062407/56649eaa5503460f94bae9e1/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Tip: Items to use and to avoid.

Step 4: Then, when you
have enough leaves, grass clippings and other matter
saved up, you are ready to build
your pile.

Step 5:Once the pile is built, you will need to keep track of its temperature.
![Page 14: By Dawn Trippie. Wizard Radagast from The Hobbit](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062407/56649eaa5503460f94bae9e1/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
120-130 degrees needed
![Page 15: By Dawn Trippie. Wizard Radagast from The Hobbit](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062407/56649eaa5503460f94bae9e1/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
When the pile cools down, it will need to be turned so that the outer layer is moved to the inside the pile.
