José Guadalupe Posada
About Posada Posada was a
Mexican cartoonist illustrator and artist whose work has influenced many Latin American artists and cartoonists.
Posada came to the spotlight in 1900’s. Jose also taught himself how to draw when he was younger.
José’s Art
Posada's best known works are his calaveras. Some calaveras that he is known for are the Calavera de la Catrina, the "Calavera of the Female Dandy.”
José Posada
Posada's engravings were brought to a wider audience in the 1920s by the French artist Jean Charlot.
While Posada died in poverty, his images are well known today as examples of folk art.
