Location● Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east.

● Shares land borders with Pakistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma and Bangladesh.

● In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; in addition, India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.

● India is the 7th largest country in the world with 3,287,263 sq km of total space, roughly ⅓ the size of the U.S.

● It has 2,973,193 sq km of land and 314,070 sq km of water.

● 14,103 km of shared borders with other countries and 7,000 km of coastline.

Natural Resources ● The main natural resources of India are iron,

bauxite, and copper ore. India is one of the major producers of iron in the world.

● Iron ore is found all over India, the major contributors being the states of Bihar and Orissa.

● The majority of energy in India is generated by coal, estimated amounts of India’s coal reserve can last up to 120 years.

● The demand for firewood is high and growing which is affecting forest.

● Theres electrical energy thats generated by hydroelectric power, which half of is generated by snowfield reservoirs high up in the Himalayas.

● Huge dams have also been built across many major rivers to produce electricity and water for irrigation.
