DOWEX 21K XLT Anion Exchange Resin
What Is It
It is a Type I Strong Base Resin Contains quaternary
methylamines producing functionalities which give it the ability to exchange anions.
When in the OH ionic form, this class of resin acts like a very strong insoluble base in solution
Water 55 – 65 % Styrene 35 – 45 % Divinylbenzene Copolymer Ethylstyrene Copolymer Chloromethyl Trimethylamine
functionalized in the chloride form
Physical & Chemical Properties
Physical State: Solid BeadsColor: White to YellowOdor: AmineSpecific Gravity: 1.06 – 1.10Solubility in Water: insoluble in waterpH: essentially neutralParticle Size: 0.3 – 1.2 mm
What Its Used For
This specific type of resin is used in uranium recovery.
Other types of resins are used for other types of metals depending on the nature of reaction.
Uranium comes from the well field, enters anion exchange columns where it is mixed with the resin and is cleaned from the mud and sulfuric acids.
Resin regeneration is completed through elution.
