Hello my name is. I will be your facilitator today. Welcome back to the fourth session of Teaching with Technology. Today we will begin part one of Module III: Integrating throughout the Content Areas. The focus of the first part of this module is technology resources and modifying lessons to include technology.1What available technology?!

Everyone completed an online pre-test before todays session. Lets take a look at the data. The pre-test was set up through google docs. This is a valuable tool that can be quite useful in the classroom. (Click picture and refer to facilitator guide p. ).2Today we willCompile a List of resources to use while integrating technology.List subject technology resources available for Jackson teachers.

Implement lessons where students use technology.

As I mentioned before, this session has to do with technology resources and modifying lessons to include technology across all subject areas. We will examine a variety of resources and explore their usefulness in the classroom. Together, we will compile a list of the useful resources available here at Jackson. All of you were asked to bring along a lesson that you are planning to within the next week. Today, we will modify that lesson to include technology. The final step of this session will be taking your enhanced lesson back to the classroom and implementing it with students. The ultimate goal is for you to leave with a toolkit of valuable resources. As we proceed please follow along in your learner guides. Your first reaction is probably delicious?. what a strange name. Delicious.com has nothing to do with food. But, this site contains some of the most delicious resources out there and you get to make it your own. With a delicious account, you can bookmark sites, label them, and keep them filed away until you need them. Instead of keeping your favorites on one computer, now you can access your favorite online and from any computer. Right now, Id like you all to log onto internet explorer on the laptops in front of you and go to www.delicious.com. We will get an account for each of you setup right now.6

Create an AccountFirst click Join Now!To Join delicious click the Join Now button that the top right hand corner of the page.7

Create an AccountLog in using your Yahoo account.Dont have anAccount?Click Here!Once you click Join Now you will see that delicious is run by yahoo. Everyone already has a yahoo account so go ahead and type in your e-mail address in the User ID box at the top and then your same password and hit sign in. Please continue to follow along as I demonstrate how to setup your new delicious account.8

Create an AccountThe next step is to choose a screen name. This name will appear on your delicious account and will be what others see when they look at your bookmarks. On page of your learner guide, please write down your delicious user id, which is your yahoo e-mail address and your screen name. You may also want to record your password or unique hint about your password so you dont forget but your account remains secure. 9

Create an AccountToday, we are going to skip this step.You can see that delicious provides a lot of options. This option allows you to add bookmarks to your delicious account through a browser. This is a wonderful option to add to your home computer and desktop but today we are skipping this step because these are not the computers we use everyday.10

Start BookmarkingClick here to startBookmarking!Its time to start bookmarking! I am going to give you a quick overview of how to add your own bookmarks. Click on Save a new Bookmark.11

Add a new Bookmarkwww.raz-kids.comTo save a new bookmark, all you have to do is copy and paste or just type in the url address of the site you want to save. Then, click next.12

The web address, the title of the site or your name for the site. You can insert a description of what is on the site and any notes about it. You can also tag the site. Tags are used as searching tools. For instance, if I am saving RAZ Kids on my delicious, I might tag student, interactive, reading, that way when ever I enter my delicious and search for an interactive reading site, RAZ Kids will pop up. Lets all fill in RAZ Kids as our first book mark. First you enter you title because the web address is already there. Then you are going to insert some notes so that you remember what the site is about. Next, you enter your tags so that it is easy to find. You create separate tags by simply leaving a space. Once you have filled every thing in, click Save.13Start BookmarkingTake some time to bookmark valuable sites.

Now Id like to give you some time to build up your delicious accounts. You will have ten minutes to add sites youve seen today and maybe to add sites youve used in the past. If you finish, you may search for other resources and add those to your account. I will be circulating around to answer questions and assist. (help individuals bookmark sites and answer any questions that they may have)

Modifying an existing lesson to include technology is as easy a 1, 2, 3. First you need to choose a lesson. You have already chosen a lesson. Next, you need to choose a technology research. You all may use a different resource based on what your lesson is about. Finally, you add the technology into the lesson. It might take you a while to find a resource that fits your lesson. You are going to have 20 minutes to locate a technology resource and to write it into your lesson plan. I will be here to assist and make suggestions.
