By Mrs. Morrison, 2 nd grade teacher and her students. All steps were completed by the students with some assistance from Mrs. Morrison. What does the scanner look like? What are you going to scan? When you decide that you need to scan a document or picture, it is important that you choose the correct type of scan. Document: The first document is a colorful picture, so I must follow the steps for scanning a picture. Step 1 Place the document face down on the scanner. Step 2: Press the button labeled for pictures or colorful documents. Choosing the correct type of scan: Step 3: A window will pop-up on the screen, and ask which type of scan you want:.jpeg, to file, or Microsoft picture show. There are only 3 choices for a picture, and I will choose to save as a.jpeg. Choosing the correct location to save my picture: Step 4: The computer will then prompt you to scan, but first you need to make sure you are saving the picture to the correct drive. It will automatically place the file on the desktop, but you will not be able to access it once you return to the classroom. Step 5: Save it to your student ID # or lunch #. You are ready to scan: Step 6: You can click on the scan button, and it will begin the scan and the picture should appear on the screen. Cropping and Rotating: Step 7: The picture might be too big or small. You can make changes to the picture before saving it. These include cropping the picture, rotating it, making it brighter, or changing it to black and white. The picture has been cropped to remove the background. Step 8: Save the picture/document. Step 1: The steps are the same except you will push the button labeled for a typed or written document. Repeat step 1 and 2 from scanning a picture. Step 2: After hitting the scan button, you will be prompted to select the desired format. Unlike when scanning a picture, you will have several choices. These include:.pdf,.tif,.jpeg, and to file. Step 3: Pick the format that will best fit your needs. Step 4: Repeat steps 3-8 from scanning a picture. Review of cropping: Before cropping (or making smaller): After cropping the document: Questions: If you have any questions, please ask Mrs. Morrison or Mrs. Weinken for assistance.
