?

Page 14: BY Muhammad Suleman MBA MIT BSC (COMPUTER). RANA INSTITURE OF HIGHER STUDIES ASSIGNMENT NO 1 CRITICAL ANAYLYSIS Group Members: ASSAD TAYYAB XYZ Submitted

A few years ago, sociologist Raymond Baumhart asked business people, "What does ethics mean to you?" Among their replies were the following:

"Ethics has to do with what my feelings tell me is right or wrong.“

"Ethics has to do with my religious beliefs.“

"Being ethical is doing what the law requires.“

"Ethics consists of the standards of behavior our society accepts."

ETHICS

Page 15: BY Muhammad Suleman MBA MIT BSC (COMPUTER). RANA INSTITURE OF HIGHER STUDIES ASSIGNMENT NO 1 CRITICAL ANAYLYSIS Group Members: ASSAD TAYYAB XYZ Submitted

ethics are norms for conduct that distinguish between or acceptable and unacceptable behavior

Most people learn ethical norms at home, at school, in church, or in other social settings.

Although most people acquire their sense of right and wrong during childhood, moral development occurs throughout life and human beings pass through different stages of growth as they mature

Discipline dealing with what is good and what is bad is ethics

e.g. to stop a person from abusing

Personal Ethics

the rules by which an individual lives his or her life e.g. Give respects and regards to others.

Three theories related to the ethics are given below.

• Utilitarian Theory

• Theory based on rights• • Theory on Justice

Ethical theories:

Page 18: BY Muhammad Suleman MBA MIT BSC (COMPUTER). RANA INSTITURE OF HIGHER STUDIES ASSIGNMENT NO 1 CRITICAL ANAYLYSIS Group Members: ASSAD TAYYAB XYZ Submitted

• This theory states that ethical decisions are made on the basis of their outcomes or consequences (results)

• You have to wait for the results after getting the results then you will have to evaluate and discuss the plans and actions.

• E.G. travelling through aero plane.

Utilitarian Theory

Page 19: BY Muhammad Suleman MBA MIT BSC (COMPUTER). RANA INSTITURE OF HIGHER STUDIES ASSIGNMENT NO 1 CRITICAL ANAYLYSIS Group Members: ASSAD TAYYAB XYZ Submitted

• This theory states that every person or all the people have basic rights.

• e.g. speak freely.

• e.g. it is our right to obey our elders/parents if we will not obey then we are not performing ethics

Theory based on Rights

Page 20: BY Muhammad Suleman MBA MIT BSC (COMPUTER). RANA INSTITURE OF HIGHER STUDIES ASSIGNMENT NO 1 CRITICAL ANAYLYSIS Group Members: ASSAD TAYYAB XYZ Submitted

• This theory states that every decision must be made on justice that is by fairness and equity

• it is the moral duty of the manager to treat equally with their employees either they are male or female.

• According to this theory no biasedness should be there with in the organization.

Equity: To treat equally.

Biasedness: It refers to favoritism

Theory of Justice:

Page 21: BY Muhammad Suleman MBA MIT BSC (COMPUTER). RANA INSTITURE OF HIGHER STUDIES ASSIGNMENT NO 1 CRITICAL ANAYLYSIS Group Members: ASSAD TAYYAB XYZ Submitted

• Business ethics are increasingly addressed in seminars and at conferences.

• Managers especially top managers do have a responsibility to create an organizational environment that foster ethical decision making by institutionalizing ethics.

• Applying and integrating the ethical concepts inside the organization and also in daily life.

• James Webber suggest that it can be accomplished in three ways(Business EthicS).

• by establishing an appropriate company policy or a code of ethics.

• by using a formally appointed ethics committee

• by teaching ethics in management development programs.

Code:a code is a statement of policies , principles or rules that guide behavior.
