What is Electronic Engineering? Electronic engineers design and

develop electronic parts, devices, and systems for consumer use

These engineers may be in charge of developing circuit boards or designing the inside of a cell phone or gadget

Core Tasks

1. Design electronic components and equipment

2. Determine the type, quantity, and cost of materials

3. Use CAD software to lay out system components

4. Test systems to make sure they perform as required

5. Some install electronics or provide technical support

Generally work between 40-45 hours a week depending on deadlines

Sometimes one might have to put in extra hours in evenings and weekends

May spend part of their time on the factory floor, inspecting or repairing production equipment or the electronic products being produced

Earnings depend on the specific type of position (level) and education

Straight out of university - $40-60k Established Engineers - $50-125k Experienced Engineers - $50-125k

To become an electronics engineer you need a minimum bachelors degree in electrical or electronics engineering

You need to get into a university But for jobs, many employers seek

experience, thus taking co-op or an apprenticeship can help

Depending on the exact program you take, you will also be granted a degree

Would I pursue this as a career? No I would not because:

I rather pursue becoming a computer hardware engineer
