What science is this ?We use a circuit. Circuits are wires and battery that powers the bulb. This is what you need to make a circuit
1. a battery and a battery holder [if wanted] which is metal
2. alligator clips [if wanted] to connect the the circuit to each other.
3. a switch if you want to control it otherwise it will keep going uncontrollable unless unplugg
Making a Light Bulb Light Up....3
LIFE CONNECTION STORY Well I was down stairs and playing with my Legos and I heard a beeping sound. I thought it was a fire so I thought it was a fire so I ran upstairs and realized it was just the fire alarm out of batteries. So electricity run out eventually and you have to change the battery’s. So don’t think that electricity is unlimited.
But I thought that too so don’t think I knew this all along.....
VOCABULARY Electric Current - A flow of
electricity
Open circuit - An incomplete circuit
Closed circuit - A complete circuit Load - power source for a circuit Switch - A object that controls if the circuit is complete or incomplete circuit - A circuit Insulator- Something that doesn’t let
electricity through.Conductor - A object that lets
electricity run through it
FUN FACTS:DID YOU KNOW THAT A CLOSED CIRCUIT IS A COMPLETE CIRCUIT and a open one is incomplete won't work. One estimate is that 24,000 people are killed by lightning strikes around the world each year

Where’s the science?
1.The Speed because how the marble
moves faster.
2. The Gravity because how the marble
gets pulled it down.
3.The Weight of the ball affects the
Acceleration by making it go faster by
the mass.
4. A change in the speed or direction of an object's motion
Fast Slow
Race car Snail
Airplane Turtle
Speedboat Tug boat
Car Golf cart
Dirt bike Bus
Jet-ski Bike
Basketball Snow
Baseball People
Hockey ball Worm
Train Sloth
VocabularySpeed- move quickly.Force - strength or energy as an attribute of
physical action or movement.
Acceleration - when it,s move faster.
Gravity- when the ball gets pull down.
Life connectionWhen I went to Disney world in Florida my
sister wanted me to go on a Roller coaster my
dad went on it to with me and my sister to. I
was scad to go on but then i went on the
Roller coaster at First it went slowly and then
it got faster and faster and then we were at a
part were it go down fast I was scad but when
i was on it for a minute it got OK and i was not
scad and when we got off i was over and then
we stayed at magic kingdom. in tell 4:30.
FUN FACT: Gravity pulls things down in rang
of earth.

Magnets have magnetic pole, a north and south pole and the opposites attract and the same repel. The earth has a magnetic field of its own! An electromagnet is when a battery is connected
to conductor and electrical wire is wrapped around the conductor (nail) to pick up paper clips. We don’t think we are going to put a magnet on our actual pinball machine. Mr. Commeret told us that the
stronger the attraction the farther away the poles will try to stick together.
Where’s the science?
One time at school we were having indoor recess and I was playing with 2 magnets and I put one on the top of my finger and the other one on the bottom and they stayed on my fingers and I could do a flip it over really fast and they would stay! When I showed my mom and my dad and my siblings they said “WOW! That’s soo awesome!!” I didn't know they could stick even through muscle, bone, and skin!!!
LIFE CONNECTION STORY
~ Magnetic attraction- If two objects magnetically attract each other.~ Magnetic field- The space all around a magnet where the force of the magnet can act .~ Magnetic pole- The end of a magnet ~ Electromagnet- An arrangement of wire wrapped around a core producing a temporary magnet

Magnetic fields by themselves are invisible
to the human eye.

WHATS SCIENCE IN THIS?
NEWTON FIRST LAW OF MOTION: INERTIA
6
VOCABULARY :Inertia - inertia is when something wants to keep doing the same thing (staying at rest or staying in motion)
LIFE CONNECTION:When I kicked the soccer ball when I was younger I wondered why it would stop. So I would kick it again and again. I was not satisfied so I would try and try and try and got really frustrated and I said “KEEP GOING” and got pretty mad at my soccer ball and thought I needed a new one. But Mr. Commeret told us why objects don’t keep going. And stop. So I am glad I understand that now so I don’t get mad at any soccer balls…….
WHATS SCIENCE IN THIS?
Newtons first law of motion is “when an
object stays at rest it will stay at rest unless a
force acts upon it.”
And when an object is in motion it will stay at motion until a force acts upon it and that force that stops and starts it is called inertia.

Newton’s 2nd law of motion is F=MxA that stands for Force = Mass x Acceleration. That means that how fast something is going
plus something equals force. The force is the thing making the mass move. If something has more mass, it takes a
greater force to accelerate it.
Where’s the science?
The more force you have the more
acceleration your object will have.
DID YOU KNOW?
Vocabulary
Inertia- a property of matter by which
it continues in its existing state of rest
or uniform motion in a straight line,
unless that state is changed by an
external force.
Force- strength or energy as an
attribute of physical action or
movement.
Mass- a large body of matter with no
definite shape.
Acceleration- increase in the rate or
speed of something.
Action & Reaction- According to
Newton's third law, for every action
force there is an equal (in size) and
opposite (in direction) reaction force.
Motion- the action or process of moving or being moved.
NEWTON’S 2ND LAW
More force Less force

When I was in 1st grade I was
reading a Junie B Jones book and
she wanted to kick a watering can
and she thought that it was empty
but it wasn’t and she broke her toe.
After she realized the watering can
didn’t move she screamed,
“OOOOWWWW!!!!!” and then her
mom came rushing out side and she
said, “ What happened?” and in the
end Junie B. had to so to the
hospital. I was thinking that that
would NOT feel good! And I learned
to check a watering can before you
kick it!!!!

Newton’s Third Law
Where’s the science?1.The Force helps it when its in the middle it go faster.2. When there is a action there has to be a equal reaction. A force is anything that can change the state of motion of an object, like a push or a pull. You use force when you push a letter on the computer keyboard or when you kick a ball. Forces are everywhere. Gravity acts as a constant force on your body, My basketball bounces back to me because of action reaction I shot the ball it hits the rim and comes back it to me….keeping you secure on planet
LIFE CONNECTION STORY
One time at my house I was playing basketball and I threw the ball in to the hoop and made it!! I yelled “Yeah!” Then the ball hit the ground, BOING. Then the ball flew up again which was a action and hit the ground with a reaction.Earth so you don't float away.A force is anything that can change the state of motion of an object, like a push or a pull. You use force when you push a letter on the computer keyboard or when you kick a ball. Forces are everywhere. Gravity acts as a constant force on your body, keeping you secure on planet Earth so you don't float away.
Action Reaction
kick a ball the ball moves
Throw a tennis ball at the ground
The ball comes back up to you
I shoot a basketball
the basketball flies through the air
