Human service professionals are given the tools to assist the vulnerable population to become successful. (Woodside and McClam, 2006) Providing an effective clinical interview with a client will help define the goals the client needs to achieve to get back on their feet. How can Case manager help the homeless?

Case managers provide resources, planning, counseling, advocate, coordinate and problem solve; which are all functions that can help a homeless person get control of their lives. (Woodside and McClam, 2006)

“ Case management is a resource everyone should have during their time of crisis. They provide assistance, support and direction toward the light at the end of the tunnel” (Interviewee 5, 2013)

Case managers understand the importance of

creating a rapport with the client before

interviewing. In doing this the client establishes

a professional relationship and the case

manager can best help the client.

Are Case managers really effective to the homeless population?

Building a rapport with the client is very important through empathic responding, active listening, feeling validation and not treating them like a case rather a

human being. (Sommers-Flanagan and

Sommers- Flanagan 2013)

“ Case management is only as successful as clients want it to be. If a case manager helps change one life they help change the world” (Interviewee 4, 2013)

Conclusion The Effective Case management study concluded that case managers have been

able to create a rapport with homeless individuals resulting in a path of trust,

respect, support and success
