My name is Jordan Streckwald and I am in eighth grade. I would enjoy serving on the

student leadership committee again this year. I was part of this organization the past two

years and enjoyed it very much!

In the past year, I received the Presidential Award for academic excellence and was

awarded most creative writer. In addition, I represented our school at the regional spelling bee

last spring. During my previous years in student leadership, I have helped the first graders in

Mrs. Hasselmans class, helped with concessions and volunteered at the thrift shop. As a

group, we did fundraisers, numerous clothing drives, and sponsored dances. I am also active

in my church. We do activities such as helping the children in bible school and sending pack-

ages to military families. We also do a program called “Operation Christmas Child” where

we send Christmas gifts to children in Africa to teach them about Jesus.

This past summer, I babysat my brother, contributed to the house chores, and volun-

teered to help Mrs. Daughenbaugh paint her classroom. I also helped my brother complete his

“10,000 shot club” by rebounding 220 shots every day. Currently, I am helping Mrs. Broge

with the lunch cards and taking the lunch money basket back to the office.

It would be very fun to help the community in student leadership. We could do food

drives a few times a year for the local food pantry. We could continue to volunteer at the

friendship center and thrift shop, and we could decorate the nursing home for the holidays. In

addition, I believe we could help clean up trash and facilities after sporting events.

I hope I will be able to experience this amazing opportunity again this year! I loved

being a part of student leadership the past two years and hope to do it again this year!

Thank you for considering me for this opportunity.

Sincerely,

Jordan Streckwald

I think I would be good at helping out with Student Leadership. I think I would be good at

being a student leader because I have experience with helping others. I am also a good role

model for younger students. I am a hard worker that gets things done as well.

I think that I could help the student leadership committee because I have experience

with helping others. I did student leadership last year, so I learned many things from it that

could help me continue to help others. I also volunteer and help those in need whenever I can.

I help out with church activities when given the opportunity, such as volunteering at the St.

Joseph strawberry social each year and I help with children’s church at the McConnell Grace

Free Methodist church. I try to help out with small things whenever I can too, like just being

polite and helping someone in the doors or offering my classmates a pencil in class. I believe

that all of the opportunities that I’ve had to help others have made me a great helper, one that

could make the Lena-Winslow school district better.

Another way that I could assist the Student Leadership group is by being a good role

model for young students in the Lena-Winslow school district. I think that spending time with

young children last year during student leadership and by helping other children, especially

my 2 year old cousin, Carter, has shaped me into a better role model. I think that my straight

A grades are a good example for others to follow as well. It can show them what to try to be

like as they get older. I believe that being a good example is the best way to be a great attrib-

ute towards Student Leadership.

In my opinion being a hard worker is a key feature for anyone trying to become a student

leader as well. I feel that I do things thoroughly yet efficiently. I think that being able to do

things productively is necessary to become a better worker. Having these skills makes it a lot

easier to be in Student Leadership. I think that being a hard worker is one talent I have and I

think it will help me be a good Student Leader.

I believe that with the skills I possess I would be able to do a great job as a Student

Leader. I am grateful for the opportunity that I had last year and I hope to be able to be a part

of this group this year as well.

Hi my name is Leah Goebel and I wish to run for student leadership this

coming year. I enjoy babysitting and helping out with younger children. I am

against bulling.

Over the last couple months I’ve started babysitting. I watch my 1 year

old cousin occasionally. My parents are building a new house and when they go

out to the new house to work, I occasionally stay home and watch my two

younger siblings sometimes. I do chores, help out with supper, and help my

brother and sister with homework if needed. I have also watched a couple of

other kids in Lena. I try as hard as possible to make babysitting fun by doing ac-

tivities, projects, and play games outside that everyone can play.

I love working with children! They are the best to work with! Helping

them learn is AWESOME! When you’re helping them you can see the progress

increase every day. I try to encourage children to work their hardest and to be

the best person they can be. I try to make sure their having fun along the way as

well.

I was nominated for the character counts 2 years in a row (3rd and 4th). I

was the mail carrier for Wee deliver in 4th grade. I also washed tables with Mrs.

Broge in 5th grade. I’m enjoy playing sports and currently play volleyball and

softball.

I am against bulling. Bulling is a terrible thing you’re only going to get

in trouble if you do bully people. People should respect other people. If they

need help, I’d like to see more people help out instead of just standing there and

watch. Treat people how you want to be treated. Think twice before you go and

hurt someone’s feelings.
