YEAR 3 LIBRARY RESEARCH TASK - Term 2, 2020

Living Things Investigation

This research task will integrate key learning areas of Science, English, Library research skills, digital and information literacy, ICT and creative art skills.

CONTENT: Stage 2 of the Living World strand focuses on the classification, life cycles and survival of living things. Students design and produce a product or system to support the growth of a plant and/or animal.

LEARNING INTENTION. Students will: Compare features and characteristics of living and non-living things (ST2-4LW-S). Conduct scientific investigations to find answers to questions (ACSIS054).Uses effective handwriting and publishes texts using digital technologies (EN2-3A).Use an increasing range of skills, strategies and knowledge to fluently read, view and comprehend a range of texts on increasingly challenging topics in different media and technologies (EN2-4A).Locate, retrieve or generate information using search engines and simple search functions and classify information in a meaningful way.Use ICT effectively to record ideas, represent thinking and plan solutions.Select and use appropriate ICT tools safely to share and exchange information with others. Inquiry Questions:What are the similarities and differences between the life cycles of living things? Students will: Identify that living things have life cycles (ACSSU072). Conduct an investigation into the life cycle of plants and/or animals (ACSSU072).

How are environments and living things interdependent/ related? Students will: Describe how living things depend on each other and the environment to survive, for example: − bees and flowers (ACSSU073).

SUCCESS CRITERIA. Steps for you to follow:1. Use this document for offline learning OR visit Library with Mrs Heyman/ 2020 Remote Access/ Stage 2 to get the Google Classroom

code. 2. Go to the YEAR 3 Library Google Classroom using code: ub5eybc.3. Find the new Google Slide that I created for you.4. Rename it with your name. Term 2 Library project YEAR 3 - YOUR NAME. Eg Term 2 Library project YEAR 3 - Sam. 5. Over 6 weeks, work your way through the Google Slide. Use the Slides to collate all your research questions, process and findings.6. DO NOT submit this until you have finished all parts of the project. However please contact us if you have any questions.7.
