DESCRIPTION

The BZD damper works like any standard damper with one exception – the BZD has been designed with a blade that is controlled by an actuator and that will also respond to static pressure. When all zones are calling, all zone dampers will be open. As zones begin to satisfy, their dampers go closed and the system static pressure will start to rise. This will send a little more air into the zones that are still calling. Only when the supply static pressure reaches approximately 0.3” WC will the damper begin to modulate open. This will send a small amount of air to the zone(s) that are not calling. Tests indicate that bleeding a small amount of conditioned air for a short period of time to the zone(s) that are not calling has little impact on the temperature in the zone(s). This is because in most cases they are above or below setpoint, so the zone(s) can absorb the additional conditioned air. If a zone calls for conditioned air, the BZD will open like a standard zone damper. The BZD damper is factory-set and should not need any adjustment.
