Under the circumstance of economic globalization, enterprises expand gradually and have

branches distributed sparsely. It is a great challenge for enterprise staff, especially the non-

professional persons, to manage branch networks and ensure normal service operation.

Gartner forecasts that the IT expenses of most enterprises will be 35% more than IT

department's budget by 2015.

Employees' work styles are changing. Employees move more often over a wider range. Mobile

office, BYOD, and emergency communication become a trend, allowing employees to access

enterprise networks anytime and anywhere. Limited by IT investments, an enterprise needs to

build a multi-play bearer network. However, wider network coverage and stronger mobility

impose more threats to enterprise networks. All these require higher security of branch

networks.

InformationWeek estimated that in 2011, 65% of enterprises are using or willing to use the

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) work mode. BYOD allows an employee to use any type of

terminal anywhere, anytime to access an enterprise network. Wired and wireless sections of

a campus network must be seamlessly interconnected so that employees can enjoy the same

online experience from any terminal.

2.1 BYOD Infrastructure Network Solution

The infrastructure network of the BYOD network solution uses multi-layer, modular, redundant

architecture.

Figure 3 BYOD infrastructure network architecture

1)Multi-layer design: The network consists of a core layer, an aggregation layer, and

an access layer. Each layer has clearly defined functions and a stable topology, making the

network easy to expand and maintain.

2)Modular design: Each module corresponds to an enterprise department, facilitating fault

location. Network topology changes in one department do not affect other departments.

3)Redundant design: A two-node redundant design makes the network more reliable

without significantly increasing the maintenance workload. Too much redundancy is difficult to

maintain.

2.2.1 3G&WLAN Converged

The AR supports dual wireless uplink access, deployment simple and fast. 3G is relying on Huawei

deep accumulation in the wireless field, interconnection and carrier networks.

AR Wireless Upstream: Rapid deployment to meet the business needs.

Preferred backup of wired link: Solve the issues such as link cost, time, and complexity in •

deploying the second cable, wireless link has become the first choice of backup links.

Reliable access with double wireless links: Completely wireless the 3G/LTE way to solve the •

connection problem.

WLAN Downstream: Flexibility to adapt to a variety of complex mobile scene.

Wireless access in Fixed place: Including branch offices, gas stations, and financial outlets. •

Wireless access anywhere: Including emergency rescue, logistics vehicle terminal.•

Unable to deploy wired link: Mining, field exploration and other occasions.•

2) Huawei WLAN products use the third-

generation chips and industry-leading

technologies to support high-density

user access. The third-generation chips

use more precise weighted algorithm

to provide more stable radio signals for

wireless terminals. Thanks to Huawei's

experience in 3G technology development

(Huawei has obtained more than 200

patents for core wireless technologies

since 2010), Huawei converged and easy

branch network solution integrates the Wi-

Fi network with 3G network seamlessly.

1) Huawei has rich experience in the

wireless communications industry and

has developed industry-leading wireless

technologies. Huawei APs support

intelligent antennas, built-in antenna

array, dynamic user detection, and

sector radio transmission to reduce

co-eff ic iency interference. These

technologies increase the coverage

area of APs by 20% c and improve the

access throughput by 20% compared

with similar products.

2.2.3 Wired/Wireless Integrated

Huawei BYOD network solution implements integrated wired/wireless access. Wireless access

controllers (ACs) are integrated on switches and the same security policies, network devices and user

management policies are deployed for wired and wireless users. Wireless and wired networks are

seamlessly interconnected, reducing network management and maintenance costs.

Huawei is one of a few vendors that can provide chassis switches with integrated AC cards. •

Huawei also provides a wide variety of energy-saving PoE switches and intelligent wireless

access products.

The wired and wireless networks use the same AAA policy server and same security devices. •

The highly efficient unified network management system simplifies management and reduces •

O&M costs.
