I graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in 2014, interned at a beauty tech startup in London, and was the art director of Vox Magazine in Columbia, Missouri.
With my journalism background, I understand the importance of deadlines and designing with an accuracy to the brand or person. I have experience with many types of projects: newsletters, newspapers, magazine spreads, logos, book covers, marketing
materials, postcards and both spot and full illustrations.
But enough shoptalk. I could watch Bob’s Burgers everyday for the rest of my life. My greatest moment in life was asking Dan Smith from Bastille about his hair.

Vox is a city-wide magazine in Columbia, Missouri. As a designer and former art director, I executed the overall design of departments, features and covers. I planned photo shoots, made photo selections and preflighted pages for production. Many of the designs you see here were winning competition pieces among the other magazine designers. Everything you see here has been published, and many include original illustrations I also created.

After an illustration internship in London at a beauty company, I fell in love with illustration. I love the artisitc freedom I can have with it and am always exploring new styles and moods. It’s also filtered into my magazine work. The work you see here is from that internship, both spot and full illustrations for Vox Magazine and the Missourian, and some of my own personal projects.

MISSOURIAN
The Missourian is a daily morning newspaper based in Columbia, Missouri. Here are a selection of pages I designed as a news designer. I worked both news and sports shifts and collaborated with editors, the graphics team and photo department. My “Freedom Pending” design above won 1st place in Breaking News at the SSND News Design Contest.

THE BEAUTY BOOK
What you see here is a magazine prototype created through a partnership with Meredith Corporation and the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism. This magazine is an annual beauty trend forecast for every generation of real women released under the Better Homes & Gardens brand. As creative director for my team, I designed the overall style of the magazine, implemented a style guide and worked with both designers and publishers to create the finished product.

VANGUARD
Vanguard is the magazine for the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Missouri. This freelance work was a 26-page publication that I designed independently.

BOOK DESIGN
I’ve created covers and formatted the inside content of several books. I work with authors on designing a product that accurately reflects the content of the work and stays true to the style that the author wants to achieve.
