On Sunday mornings, June 10, 17, and 24, Dr. Shreve will be teaching a class for prospective new members during the Sunday School hour (9:15am 10:15am). This class will meet in the church library. Two of the Sundays will focus on the beliefs and structure of the United Methodist Church, and the third Sunday will focus on things that are specific to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. All persons who are attending but who are not professing members of the church are welcome to attend. Please let the church office know by June 7 if you plan to attend so we can have adequate handouts for everyone.

    May all

the music you hear and sing

    at our

    services draw you

    closer to

    God. May God

    Bless You!

Notes with Spiritual Tempos By Pam Walling, Director of Music

As I reflect on our choir year, it always amazes me how much music is shared by many faithful people. Throughout the choir year there are five choirs, Adoration, special music selections, and the Praise Team that celebrate Christs love for all by singing, ringing, playing, and dancing in our worship services! We are truly blessed at Chapel Hill. This month I will focus on the Chancel Choir. The Chancel Choir meets for ten months of the year, September through June. This year we have sung two cantatas, many old and new anthems, introits, led congregational singing, and sang at special services throughout the year. What many of you may not know is that the Chancel Choir opens every choir rehearsal with joys and concerns, followed by prayer. We truly care about our church family and our choir family and friends. We are starting a Nursing Home ministry by singing at Serenity Care on Thursday, June 7. We hope to provide special music once a month by one of our groups starting September of 2012! I feel humbled and hon-ored to work with this amazing group of people! These folks and those of all our choirs, instrumentalists, soloists, and the Praise Team are filled with the love of praising God through music. They are all willing to give of their time and talents. These God given talents are such a blessing to our worship services!

    PHOTO ALBUMS, VIDEOS, AND TREASURED

    MEMORIES

    Dear Friends:

Sometimes packing up to move is a slow process. One of the things that sometimes slows it down for me is sorting through drawers and boxes where I have stored pictures and photo albums. This task slows me down because I want to stop and look through them all. Even though I have seen them all before, I still cannot resist looking back through them again. My daughter and I even found some old videotapes of some childhood events and so we had to stop and watch for a while. We enjoyed it. These are some of the ways that we preserve our memories.

There is an old Brad Paisley song entitled, Who Needs Pictures, With A Memory Like Mine. I have lots of pictures from serving among you as your District Superintendent, but I have many more memories. I will treasure these experiences for the rest of my life.

I will recall with thanksgiving the many services of worship, prayer, revival, and praise that I had the privilege of sharing among the charges of our District. I will remember the ways in which the churches stepped up to the plate and gave generously to help those in need through special ap-peals as well as regular missional apportionment giving. I will never forget the faithfulness of pas-tors and laity in inviting persons and in being present themselves at some very large district-wide services and events. I have so many stories among the memories that I will always cherish. Just like looking through a photo album there are a multitude of do you remember that type of experi-ences.

I want to thank all of you for being a part of this ministry experience with me. I truly appreci-ate all of the work, the prayers, and the voices of encouragement and support that I received throughout these four years. It was a once in a lifetime, amazing journey and I give God praise and glory.

As you move forward into the future, I pray that you will continue to create some tremendous pictures of what it looks like to be faithful and fruitful for Gods Kingdom. You will have a great lead-er and a Spirit-filled visionary at the helm of the District. Work with her in the same manner you worked with me. Dedicate yourselves again to doing all you can for the cause of Christ. Commit yourself to leading and directing your church in the way of Christ and in the service of others. The calling that God has given to us is indeed a blessed one. Let us all continue to respond to that call and walk with faith into the future that God is already preparing for us.

May the Lord bless you each day of your journey as we continue to serve together.

    In Christ,

    Ken A. Ramsey

evoLv Sponsors a Compassion Child evoLv youth group has sponsored a child through Compassion International. Her name is Andreina Cedano and she lives in Higey, Dominican Republic. Her birthday is December 25, 2005. She lives with her mother, father and one sibling. Her father works as a laborer, and the average monthly income for a laborer in her city is $176 a month. Her community needs clean water and electric. Her sponsorship is $38 a month.

evoLv youth who attended Youth 2011 picked this child to support. They are asking all youth in grades 6-12 to bring a $5 per month donation to help support this child. Think of all the material things you have and all the love that you receive. Then think about what $5 will cost you one meal at a fast food restaurant. It is less than the cost of a 3D movie. How many items have you bought this year that add up or well exceed $5 that you no longer use? evoLv youth will also be writing to the child to let her know that there are Christian people who love her somewhere else in the world.

We had to discontinue sponsorship through Destiny Rescue because we were not getting enough monetary sup-

port to sustain two sponsorships. If, in the future, support increases, we will sponsor a child through Friends of

    Fort Libert.

Childrens Church Schedule We will continue with separate childrens church for ages 3-Kindergarten and those in 1

    st-3

rd grade this year. Pre-K and Kinder-

garten children will have childrens worship each Sunday with Kim and Miranda Lincicome. Children are not required to attend chil-drens worship, but if they would like to go, it begins right after the childrens sermon in the Childrens Church room (Christian Educa-tion hallway). Children in 1

    st-3

rd grade will have worship every other Sunday with

Amanda Hayes and Anna Leigh Kimble (summer substitute). This worship group also meets directly after the childrens sermon, but they meet in Irons Chapel (next to the church office). The schedule for 1

    st-3

rd grade is listed below: (Note the

    Summer Camp 2012

Attention children ages 7-18 How would you like to spend a few days or a week at a camp? Spring Heights is a

United Methodist Retreat Center offering summer camp programs throughout the summer for children ages 7-18.

Costs range from $138-$325 depending on the length and type of camp. We have plenty of fliers available on the
